Another off-topic, but figured I'd show my age and share a oldie. Was flipping around last night and got into an early-2000's movie called Knockaround Guys. Mob-type movie with Dennis Hopper, John Malkovich, Seth Green, and a young Vin Diesel. I'd never heard of it, but am a big Hopper/Malkovich fan. ANYWAY there is a fight scene in a bar with Vin Diesel kicking the snot out of a local in a small town, and the music in the background got my attention. So first off I had not heard this song, no kidding, in 30 years I'd bet. The first thing that popped in my head was a memory from when I must have been 6 or 7 years old, me in the back seat of our 78 Grand Safari with my younger brother, and Mom and Dad singing along to this song, which I'm sure was on one of Dad's 10,000 homemade cassettes he always had in the car with us (most recorded off of American Top 40...Dad loved Casey Kasem). Anyway it's such an out-of-the-blue off choice for a fight scene....and tied to the memory of my folks singing in our old wagon, I finally Googled the song to see who in the heck it was (been stuck in my head all day). So here you go! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixTXmKauL8A&feature=related Without Google I never would have found that....have never in my life heard the name Steve Forbert. -Mike
Yeah. Probably haven't heard that song since when it was originally out. Not on any playlist AFAIK....
Meet me in the middle of the night.... Haven't heard that for awhile...showing my age I guess... Meet me in the middle of the day, let hear you say everything is OK...
A blast from the past! Steve Forbert?..I always thought the guy's name was Jackrabbit Slim. It's good to learn something new and totally useless every day. I remember that song was constantly playing on the radio during my last free year of life as I knew it. I married my first, last, present, and only wife in 1980.
That's funny. I actually heard that song recently but I can't remember if it was on the radio at home or over the pubic Muzak where I work...
