Find out if you can buy a permit for that State. For the few bucks well worth eliminating the angst of being pulled over and hassled and who knows what. A cranky trooper who is having a bad day could make yours even worse.

When we purchase something out of WA and ID we've bought that State's temporary permit just so we have no hassles. Our thought is if someone hits us and then we have plates not tied to us we are the ones who get held up and hassled.

What else can go wrong? Well, I like tools and fluids in the vehicle until I've had it up on my hoist and am positive everything is good. So we do a trip to Walmart and buy one of those elcheapo all purpose tool kits, extra engine and trans fluid, brake fluid, and carry water which we also partake of during the trip home. We also often pick up a pillow for on the road passenger napping and snacks too. Break down on the road somewhere and depending on how long you have to wait for help or to get the car fixed, having something to drink and nibble on takes some of the edge off. All cheap stuff, some of it throw away when you get home, tools can go to the kids to learn with, and that way you aren't carrying anything on the plane that will get TSA's attention.

    Good tips all, thanks.

We're flying in to North Carlonia Saturday at landing around 5:15, and should have the car by 6:15-7pm...they live about 45-mins from the airport. We're planning to grab dinner and then get on the road that night and try to make it 150-200 miles before grabbing a hotel, which will put us in South Carolina-to-Georgia.

We're going to make a pitstop in Destin Florida the next day and another stop in New Orleans the following day, so want to get as far as we can the first day, so we have more time to site-see the next couple of days.

    Counting the minutes! Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock!

Mike considering what happened and is happening with the weather I'd suggest a more northern route home.
    As for this-------
act dumb.....:slap: "really officer?....i just bought this car and im taking it home.
Would you really be ACTING ?:naughty::slap::bouncy::rofl2:I know. This is mean!
    Good luck with the wagon.

    HEY NOW!!

As for the route, been looking on Weather.com and by the time we head back westward the rain will be to the north...but you're right, there may be a lot of roadwork, cleanup and such going on along the gulf. May be smarter to go north.

We'll see. I've got four routes mapped out, two north, two south, all beween 20-24hrs drive time.

I think your route home should involve driving straight north on I75 and a boarder crossing......

Don't listen Mike. I think this could involve some boarder problems trying to get it back home.

And once there, turn left, just follow highway 1 (it's just that eazy), once you find the Pacific Ocean call me. I'll save you the ferrie cost, I'll be a walk on passenger and take the Olds from there. Don't wory about getting home, I'll drop ya off at the Rev's place for a loner wagon:D

I know sometimes Mike ACTS DUMB. But we all know he's not that dumb!
Don't pay attention Mike. If you do feel it is neccesary to take a rt 1, take the rt 1 down the Florida coast. We'll guard that wagon for you till the weather clears up.
In fact you can fly home from the NW coast of Florida and come back in awhile for the wagon. Like maybe next summer sometime. :rofl2:
