    Horrible color....

This color may have looked OK on a Pinto, but not on any big Mercury.

Love the color and the vinyl top. Gotta love the Colony Parks, especially from the seventies. Pure class!

The colour I could live with. The vinyl top would simply have to go. They are nothing but rust traps.

Wasn't this one listed in Hemmings for several months, maybe two years ago? I recall seeing some winter time pics of the car with muddy carpets while parked at what looked like a shipping port. I thought the price at that time was in the $9K range.

Anyway, interesting to see that lever near the turn signal. My only guess would be a brake controller but I didn't see a hitch on the bumper. Anyone have an idea that this is?

My dad had a '72 GMC truck that color, called it "Ochre", like Ochre Winfrey.
It looks like baby poo after they've consumed strained carrots.

I don't think it's a brake controller. Looks like an aftermarket turn signal unit to me. Used to see these hooked up to 40's/50's cars that didn't have turn signals from the factory, or the factory set-up went bonkers. Most of them had a little 2x3x4" box you strapped to the steering column.

It's Alan Arkin's wife's car from the movie "Freebie and the Bean".

In 1974, my dad was 14, and my mom was 9. I wasn't born for another 16 years :p

I have a funny feeling that extra wand may be for remote throttle/brake control, but I'm not sure. Oh, and i was 13 when that movie came out. I did enjoy it, but it has been a LONG time since I saw it last!

Well, dang, I got married before some of your parents were born. Or at least still in the lower grades at school or in kindergarden. Mind you, we were married right out of high school, then carried on with education and jobs, no waiting around for us. Now 81 may be in denial, but if he was around in '74, no matter what stage of diaper training he was at, he's what we term "getting on", in more ways than one :rofl2:

I've been told that age is a state of mind. Thusly my beloved has suggested that I'm nearing my teenage years (again I might add).
