I have a '71 Pontiac Safari. Does anyone know where I can get the rubber for the windshield and one (or both) rear side windows? And the door rubbers too?

    Thanks,
    Brandon

The windshield is held in with butyl tape. Any competent glass shop can pull and reset the glass. I would NOT allow them to use urethane as it will not allow the glass to sit at the proper height when installed. I'm pretty sure the rear side glass is installed the same way.

As far as the doors, just google "1971 Pontiac Safari door weatherstrip" and you'll get many results. Metro rubber products makes front and rear sets for the clamshell cars. See: http://www.metrommp.com/

The last windshield I had put in the guy used the urethane but simply used some rubber blocks as spacers to keep it the right height. Fit great and no more leaks. Same guy then did my Vista Cruiser windshield and all the rear top glass. Again with spacers and urethane and again the trim fit great and no leaks. A good windshield guy should have no problem with that.

Ditto, hubby is an auto glass installer. We have had this discussion before, I think it was Wixom(where is he?) Your windshield and side glass should be installed in urethane not butyl tape. In hot climates windshields that are set in butyl tape can become loose enough that they can be pushed out by hand. Not safe. :)
