so it would seem that there is a lot of wishy washy info out there on the question im about to ask !
Even myself as a lifelong Ford guy...dont have...cant get or find a decent answer !

so heres the deal.....My beautiful Country Squire....has a frame of swiss cheese...:taz:

I went to put a trailer hitch on her....only to find that the frame is JUNK !!

mind ya...its only on the drivers side:rofl2:...the passenger side is mint !!!
But the drivers side is done done done!!!...as In NOT repairable!!!

So...not only do I have to tow my Vintage Trailer with my g/f's stinkin Cherokee to the Tin Can Tourist gig..
...but I cant get a straight answer from anyhwere as to what frame will fit?????

The car itself is just tooo close to MINT to just say TO HECK with....its still got the plastic on the seats !!!:thumbs2:
....but holy crap...this is waaay more work than I feel like doing...:rofl2:

The HOLLANDER manual says its wagon only...as does everyone Ive talked to...or they dont know what the difference is:confused:

ANd it turns out that Booboo59 is trying to find out the same info...as weve spoken about it.
    SO?....anyone got any insight??

    ....anyone??....Bueller....Bueller??

    thanx in advance kids:cheers:

Being totally opposite to the title of this thread, I couldn't help but here your crys and came a running. :)

It sounds like it will be alot of work however you go about saving her. I'm amazed with the contects that you seem to have that you aren't able to find another frame or at least the answer to your question.

Sorry to here about the Cherokee. Good luck.:)

How 'bout some pictures? Why a frame replacement as opposed to repair the side that is bad; plate stock, torch, welder, beer...

Back in the days when I used a big book instead of a computer database to look up parts and prices, I seem to remember frames for wagons being specific. I believe most of them were different due to the longer rear overhang that wagons had vs. sedans, and also possibly due to the different arrangement of the gas tank and cargo area. Convertible frames were specific too, but for most vehicles basically were a sedan frame with some additional reinforcements to increase stiffness.

Looked through yer pics/garage and didn't see a single Ford CS there. I see a Bermuda, and a 62ish Merc, and Falcon Squires, and a Pinto Squire, and oh...um...I like that '69 Fairlane if its got a third row I'll take that...but no CS's. I would think stick to the same generation and you'd be fine. 61-62, 63-64, 65-68, 69-70, 71-72, 73-78, 79-91???

    That sux!
I have no idea what other frame would fit, but I would see if you can "sleeve" it with channel. They do it all the time on the old Heavy trucks/Big Rigs.

Not repairable? I don't think I've ever seen a frame that was not repairable unless it's been sitting in the sea for 50 years. We need pics. :yippee:

I don't know if you have anything like it there, but here in Toronto there is a shop that only fixes frames. They make their own frame parts, weld them in, and give you a lifetime warranty on the work, too. Their prices are even fairly reasonable. They'd have to be since I saw a K CAR in there being fixed! Nobody spends big bucks fixing a K Car!

    ....RUM!!!!!....beer makes you fat:biglaugh:

I know this is gonna sound weak....but I dont wanna have to drive across the country to get it.....at that rate$$$ I could just build one:biglaugh:

Well....its more of a case of....If I have to pull it off the frame to fix it....then I may as well have a good one to put under it.....yano;)
and pics of what??the giant holes in the frame??

TAZ and Billy...its $$$$ and time;)...dont forget..Im up in Canada;)....I can find a car frame up here...just cant get a straight answer on the difference between CAR/WAGON

I spoke with 3 frame shops I know....they all said.."well..shes gotta come off the car to get fixed."....thats when the quotes got ugly:evilsmile:

Thanx for the input tho folks....still lookin for some/one/thing that explains the 'difference'....although CT and DVAP....are lookin better all the time:biglaugh:

Just based on experience, you're going to find the frame of the wagon identical to its sedan or hardtop counterpart - in front of the rear wheel arch. It's the rear end rails and crossmember that will be different.

The Ford frames from '65 to '67 should be practically identical. Maybe even '68 as well. I believe they changed in '69.
