Ever since the tornado I have been seeing more and more station wagons. Someone around here has a gorgeous Colony Park, and I have seen a cream white 80s Olds, a Blue 80s Buick, about a hundred little blue-green 90s Ford somethings [they are tiny but still a wagon], and a Chrysler T&C from the 80s that has some really beaten up wood. A tan Fox body, a dark blue Fox body and of course that Granada I have me eye on, and at least one Sable wagon. That covers it. Not including the 2 Nashes/Ramblers and the Nomad.

Maybe you are like me, just noticing wagons more since joining this forum. Like when I bought a Vette or other cars that were different, even my red Dodge truck. You notice what you have and they've probabably always been right in front of us.
But in your case, perhaps people can't afford to replace cars damaged in the tornado and are driving older ones now.

Don't forget that Jeep looking thing lurking in the back ground...;) ( I'm kidding. I make Joke.)

The '73 Satellite here is the wagon version of the first new car my grandfather ever bought. It was the same color combo and one of the better looking 'brown' cars made. The sad part of the story was that it was an insurance replacement for the Ivory over Mist Blue '63 Bel Air sedan he lost in a collision.

I bet several of those wagons were inexpensive replacements for lost property and a lot were socked away but, when the need arose, owners made them available. A heck of a lot cheaper than new truck of any size or shape, and dry inside. They'd be helpful while folks gather the stuff they need to rebuild their lives and homes. These events also tend to make some folks wax nostalgic too.

I don't care for brown cars either. But this is a great looking wagon.
Altho that Jeep might fit the station wagon description, it just does not look wagoney to me, whether it is lurking, cavorting, loitering, stalking, or just passin thru!:rofl2: I'm not joking!

At least the owner is sporting a true soft top on it. I like a Jeep 'CJ' (loosly)
that can be shared with several others, in comfort. I drove in, road shot gun in and got jostled over the rear seats (bare metal fender tops, comfy in Nebraska in mid-winter) of one of these fine 2wd beauties in HS. Is was a favorite of the ladies tho, I must admit. (Guys hated me tho.)

The 1969 Kaiser Company DJ5 Postal Service Jeep. (one of the last true Kaisers I think) (had the real Jeep front end, BTW)

By the way, the front seats were great. Vega buckets made to fit and the heater actually warmed the front two people. Unfortunately, quite often there were up to 6 crammed in there at a time.
Seat belts? We don't need no stinking seat belts... (and the cops all left it alone...)

Had a friend who had one of those WWII surplus Jeeps. We used to run up and down the river levees and small creeks. Not only did they not have good suspension I think they were built to bounce! The springs were designed for 80,000# capacity!

The Fairlane is a small block three on da tree car and had been converted to a floor shift.
    Note vintage Carroll Shelby wheels.

Funny how the Jeep got us off topic.
Actually in the pic of my wagon and Jeep, behind it is a minivan.
So the pic shows the of the evolution from wagon to minivan to SUV,LOL!!
