    Thanks

The wire in question is Solid yellow and I cant seem to find it in the wire scheme? I do have a power tailgate, but most of that power comes down the other side of the car. I am leaning towards maybe the reverse light? Not sure I will check more next Friday........

Here is a link to the car show we went to Saturday, 70 degrees in So Cal you gotta love it, there are also a few picks from a show we went to last weekend as well.......enjoy

That's weird, because Ford usually uses Yellow for the Fuel tank sender. I guess yours works. Once they set their wire colors, they rarely change them, because the Dealers can't afford to send their Service guys to Corporate retraining with every wire change. Good luck with it.:tiphat:

The yellow wire actually comes out of the wire bundle in the firewall plug, it may very well be the fuel sending, I didnt even think of that, there is also a 2.5 amp inline fuse that is missing in the harness, I didnt have any fuses to fit so i will get one this week, I am sure it is for something, lol Ryan

We used to use the aluminum foil from a pack of smokes to jimmy-rig a temporary fuse. :slap::rofl2:

    Hope that's it...:)

Scary! Like using a penny in place of the old round glass fuse in a home power panel.

    Friday update

Well no pics again, I promise I will get some this week I should be able to get to the shop a couple of times this week. As for this Friday I continued to wrestle with finding the correct power steering hoses but I think I figured it out, I am waiting on one more hose (one of the short ones from ram to pump?), all of the rest of them are on!!! After I finally got all the hoses on I went back to the wiring and I am pretty sure that the yellow wire (which I learned Ford used as a power wire) appears to be for the power window in the tailgate.

I started the tear down of the power switch for that power window (key operated) because I need to have a key matched to the new ignition key I installed and I need to have the housing chromed.

I installed both tail lights, and then put in the inline fuse that was missing in the wiring harness. I put in a 3 amp fuse as that is all I could find but I ordered 5, 2.5 amp fuses for later. I then reinstalled the headlight switch and checked for my dash lights to see if they are working. The dash light s were not grounded so they did not come to life but the "green dot" indicator light for drive reverse etc (on steering column) did work so that is a good sign.

I also helped with another project, actually a repair on a 1989 Fox body mustang. The engine was rebuilt and was being installed back into one of the guys cars. So far so good on that install.

As for next week, I am going to add a little more sound deadener into the dash, try to get the dash cluster and trim installed, fix the E brake, install the windows in the front doors, and all hardware on the outside for the doors. Then maybe move to the front clip and start to get the fenders etc on.

Thats it for now have a good weekend Ry

You're doing great Blacksnake. Slow and steady always wins the race. Good luck with the dash.

    Bonus Monday update, with pics

Well a little bonus today. I did not get to the dash as I am waiting for 2 new clips from Macs to hold the wire loom behind the dash, the old ones shattered when I touched them, lol. So today I buttoned up the power steering hoses, all on............ hooray!!!

After that I moved to the doors, added a few strips of Dyna mat and then I cleaned the mechanisms, and installed the door handles and locks.
Here is a pic of the mechanism in hte door before I ran a small wire brush over it.

    And after i brushed it
    [IMG]

Then a shot of white lithium grease and WD40 on the springs and joints where you cant get grease
    [IMG]

And the new door handle mechanism
    [IMG]

    Window regulators, cleaned and greased
    [IMG]

    And the finished product, lol

I also put in a new channel for the frame of the front windows (attached to the wind wing). I will get a pic of that tomorrow.

I may start to put the front end together this week too?

    Have a good week Ryan

    Double bonus update, lol

Some of the pics are from yesterdays activities, some from today.
Yesterday I got the front windows including the wind wings compleyly installed :)

Also yesterday I continued to work on the wiring and I couldnt get the dash lights to come on, blinkers, tail and brake light all good, after fixing a broken wire, but no dash lights. At the end of the day I turned on the heater motor just to check the power and.................It sounded like a war siren......damn!!! I bench tested it and it was quiet. But when it was in the doghouse it was screaming!!! So i had to pull that motor out today and I will replace it tomorrow.

Anyway here are some pics of the windows, some of the dash and my guage wiring, lol

Cleaned then re greased the window tracks and installed new plastic rollers!!

    The windows all back together!!

A peak at the dash with the glovebox and some of the dash inserts installed and my wiring mess sticking out of the cluster hole
    [IMG]

No pics of the heater lol.

Oh yes I did figure out at the end of the day that I simply didnt have a good enough ground for the dash lights, even after I added a supplemental ground from the back of the cluster to the metal on the dash??I only figured it out by grounding each socket!!! When in doubt...............ground it LOL

Tomorrow I will try to get dash completed, replace the heater blower motor then maybe move to the front clip? MAybe more pics tomorrow?? LOL

    Have a good night, Ryan

Nice report Ryan, looking at dash pics, you're a much braver man than I am,lol. So, heater motor, is it right at the point of going bad? Don't you test them by seeing how many amps they draw? Maybe it needs to be shimmed in duct cutout? Is there some grey spongy foam that serves as a gasket and helps quiet it? Grounds are just as important as 12v power sources I suppose. Thanks for the updates, I'm learning a lot. (y)
