Tedy, I, like everybody else, wish I had some words for you to help you feel better, but I know how much you loved him and how much he loved you and maybe if you can concentrate on that and what a great life you gave him, it might get a little easier. I don't know anyone who could have given Kirby a better and more loving time on Earth so you must take consolation in that. I think our four legged friends know when their time has come and I dare say Kirby was happy to know his pain would soon be over, hence his happy and content look eventhough his legs wouldn't work. Farewell, Kirby, thanks for giving my friend Tedy so much joy and happiness. You'll be sorely missed. Hang in there, Tedy. You will feel better as the days go by.
Really sorry to hear of your loss. I thought Kirby's surgery had fixed him up and that he was recovering, so this is a real shock to hear. I know he's a dog most of us never met, but since we see his picture every time you post, Kirby's face smiling out of the back of your station wagon has always been the poster child of the Station Wagon Forum. He will be missed, even by those of us who only knew him through your posts and pictures.
He is out of pain now, and in a wonderful place with other pets awaiting your arrival in the distant future. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family in this most difficult time. Junk..
Tedy, your old guy had it made when he moved in to your life. We should only wish that every pet has half the life he had. A loving family, good friends of the two and four legged kind, and when the time came, people who cared enough to end the pain and allow him to go with dignity. They all will be waiting for you, Tedy. That is my dream, that all our little critters will be a part of what happens next. Take care, you are in our thoughts.
Sorry about your loss Tedy. Kirby sounds a lot like my friend Chelcie's shepard. He had hip problems too. We lost our oldest JRT Hannah last month so know what you're going through. Time will heal you and the good memories are forever. RIP Kirby and Hannah!
Thanks all, Didn't hit me so hard till I got home tonite, but all your posts helped. Thanks again....... Thanks Ian, for your post EDIT... I really mean it, Thanks everyone..
Tedy, we, here on the Station Wagon Forum, are family... Some of which you have never met, but family none the less and we will always be there to share in both joy and pain, because that is who we are.
Tedy, I'm so sorry about Kirby and I wish you and your family well. I'm glad that yours and Kirby's paths crossed. Owen
You sure know how to turn a frown into a smile. Tedy, I raised hunting dogs for my dad and his pals. Fell in love with one (REX) that my dad shot because he was gun-shy. Took over 2 months before I even spoke to dad. The second one, SPOT, was all white with a light brown spot over one eye. He chased cars, and that did him in. Tore me apart. Never had a dog since. Too much hurt. Cities just aren't for dogs. So sorry, but the Rev is right!
-----------When loosing pets it is always a sad time. We now are retired with five acres in the country. Last dog had to be put down many years ago because of illness. Lived in the city. It hurt so much we will never have another pet. -----------Kirby was definately the better looking of you 3 muttsDuring a sad time, this helped me! And I also agree! He was a beautiful friend.
Thanks again all, and Rev...... ...... Still isn't eazy but getting along....... Been spending alot of extra time with Rascal, it very clear he is hurting, non stop searching for the old man real and no "umph" in him at all. It pritty clear as it was with Kirby.....Rascal needs a 4 legged friend but we feel it's very improtant for him that the other dog is not older, must be about the same age. Thats where the search for a Shep got touph. We put a 7 page application in for another rescue dog, we are having a telephone interview tonite and if all goes well a home inspection will follow and then arangements can be made for the dogs to meet. I expect this aplication to be a longer one because the pup we are after isn't on our island. Of course I used our pound as referance being that they know us, and have inspected our home, Bart..we were his last chance he was so messed up, Rascal...I jumped through hoops to foster cared for him because of injurys and then was aloud to adopt, and Kirby almost starved to death we rescued from a bad enviroment when he was 10 months old. We are excited but not getting to excited because..... anyway, this is Jackson who we aplied for. 18months-2 years old, found with his brother abondoned on a highway in the interiour of our province 1 year ago. The brothers ahve been in care/foster homes since and this summer were seperated. this is Jackson......I know Kirby would aprove, wish us luck
