If it had been a wagon, I would have cried. Nice really. It is an interesting psychology though. Chevy evokes family, tradition, and that their trucks go on forever. Does it tell the viewer, "Go buy a new one?" Or does it say, "I'll just fix my old truck." Interesting.

Good commercial. I'll keep fixing my old Chevy truck until there's finally just nothing left of it.

A heart breaker. Too much so for me.
But, hey...if you are a car guy you wouldn't need some mechanic telling you your rig is shot. You would just fix it. Whatever the problem.
Bottom line....I don't like the commercial. It does what it's supposed to but I don't like the message.

I like this commercial alot. It's saying that trucks/cars/wagons etc can be a lot more than just a vehicle and Chevy, since they were an American icon for so long, even more so. I also like that they're not pushing to get a new one; I think they're capitalizing on tradition and the base of American families that there can be much more value to history than shiny and brand new things.
    I say good for Chevy.

I don't think the commercial is trying to say this guy is a car guy, he's just a good family man, an average Joe with an old broken-down truck. He probably sees it as nothing more than transportation most of the time, but deep down, he really loves that faithful old truck...his daddy passed it down to him. When he remembers what it really means to him, and potentially to his own son someday, he decides to fix it.

Sentimental...but that's the point. I think it is quite beautiful.

I've seen it a few times on TV, and I always stop what I'm doing and watch it. It strikes a chord with this sentimental fool.

    Nice job, Chevy! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

I agree that these commercials are doing what the rest of you are saying, but I think it is also taking it one step further. When alot of the other truck brands are pushing "I'm tougher then you" with usually only one person(a man) in the truck, climbing, hauling, etc, being tough. This truck is being soft, friendly a part of the family. I checked out a few of the other commericals, see what you think...

I think they are taking a VERY different and refreshing approach to get folks to put a Chevy in their driveway. Isn't this how some of us feel about our cars...it is for me. :D

We always wonder where all of the wonderful cars of the past went. Yeah, lots were totaled in crashes, many more rusted away, but the vast majority of them need one more big repair, that a disinterested, or fed-up or cash-strapped owner decided against. The car wasn't valued, so away it went.

For this critical moment to be presented by a company that wants to sell new vehicles, and for the message to be {Vehicles do have value, value that doesn't necessarily have to make good financial sense...who cares, if you love it - fix it!} well, that is very nice to someone that feels the way I do about old cars.

Uh, Foxy, maybe at the end, when he signs a blank check, and says to the mechanic, "Just fix it". :slap:

Watch it again, this time with the sound. :rofl2:

Around here people take pride in their Chevy trucks. Almost every one of my friends owns one. My dad and mom each have one and I have one. They're something to be proud of. When I think reliable old workhorse, I always think of a Silverado.
