Just picked up a 64 2 Door wagon project, going to be more of custom / pro-touring styled car. Not much original about it. Got no here hoping to get some help finding weatherstrip for the tailgate of the car, it didnt have any and I'm unsure whats supposed to even be there? -Gary
to the wagon train, Gary. Weatherstripping on old wagons is often a problem but I'm not certain about that 64. Others here should chime in with more info. When you have a minute....post up some pix of your wagon...we love pix! How To Post Pictures in a Thread
Hotrodgary. Weatherstripping is sometimes difficult to find. On the plus side there are many assorted "by-the-foot" pieces available at larger car shows and swap meets. Even thru the different car magazines. Always cheaper than exact duplicate replacements. Even my common Chevy wagon cost around $100 for the tailgate rubber and bumpers. Have fun on here and playing with your wagon.
Pics So the plans are so far, 403 LS Stroker carburated 2004R, trans Moser 9" ford, 3:90 gear Air Ride & Hotchkis suspension Vintage Air and a whole list of other goodies Planning to run 17" and 18" wheels -Gary Heres some pics.... floors patched and the start of the nova dash flush fit the tail lights mock up engine set in place with a 2004R trans
Heres a pic of my 62 Chevy II I just sold, also a pic of my 66 Chevelle SS I sold awhile ago. And also my 2 VW beetles, one is a driver, one is obviously a project lol -Gary
Always loved the two-door wagons and hated the fact that Chevy quit it in 66. Check out Einstyn.com. Mostly 68-72, but worth the look. Is your wag the same wheelbase as the four doors?
Been awhile, got frame boxed, suspension all on, set the body on, lots of mock up and planning, next is to build tubular xmembers and mounts for engine and trans. -Gary
Been awhile, some progress.... Got the body back off the frame, get it ready for the media blaster. You can see the frame all boxed in and the tube x-member we made up for it. The floor pans & new trans tunnel Body back from the media blaster, only found a couple small surprises, nothing big though, turned out good The 62 Nova dash (whats left of it lol) looks good in there, I'm glad I used it starting to put it all back together again so i can start fitting and reworking all the panel gaps, etc. The widened 67 Nova bumper fits pretty good, still needs some tweaking but looks like it belongs Looking like a whole car again!
O.K. Gary, I like what you're doin' and how you're doin' it but I've got a question. Looks like you've closed in the gas filler door, and the new fuel cell pretty much conferms that you have new plans for the filler location. You planing on dropping the gate every time you take on a load of fuel or are you hiding it behind the license plate location in the bumper and we just can't see it? Keep up the great work Man. It's good to see someone preform that knows what their doing Jer
originally i was going to lower the tank down to use a passenger car tank style, behind the license plate fill. I didnt like how the tank hung down past the rockers when looking at the car from the side. I dont have a pic of it up here yet, but I moved it behind the drivers tail light, so the light swings out to access the fuel cap. I will be moving the fill on the gas tank itself back to the factory location for the wagon on the side. Thanks, -Gary
