4bl car. The 343 is rebuilt and has a better cam and a bit of head work done. The 4-speed has good gears that match the 354 rear gears well. Thanks, Matt
This is cool !!! I just read a old AMC book that says, " 1967 was unusual that a 4-speed was available in many models with any V-8 bodystyle and seating. This combination could have prduced such freaks as a bench-seat Ambasador four door station wagon with a dual exhaust, 343, 280bhp V-8 and a 4-speed on the floor." AMC buyer's guide, 1994. That is just what my wagon is !!!!! DA, FREAK.....lol
I hope to get some pictures of "DA' FREAK" real soon . Thanks to all the nice AMC owners that could see me getting my car soul back, feels great !!!!! This car is perfect for me as I had a old hot rod wagon back when I was starting out with my family years ago , and dreaming of the day I would own a Hurst SC/Rambler. Valeri and the SC have moved on from me now so I needed a different path. That SC was my dream ride out of any muscle car that was ever built. This Ambassador 4-speed wagon will fill my soul for the taste of owning a cool and different kinda car again .It will also let me enjoy great memories of my life in one car, family and SC/Rambler times all rolled into one Freaky package !!!!! And I get to enjoy it with my girlfriend Tracy, all that much better !!!!! <div> Thanks,</div> <div> Matt</div> <div>PS: I can even pull my motorcycle with it on the really long trips then go for a ride !!!!!!!!!
Nice AMC wagon. I know how hot it can be in Phoenix, we were there on holiday in 2008. But the cars are free of rust...
This was day one of restoration spent getting the car of the trailer and moving parts in this HEAT !!! I started feeling poor even as I drank much water but still hot and the ride home was well damn HOT !!! Thanks. Matt
I can image that! Even on vacation it was (too) hot. Unfortunately we left the junk yard we were visiting too soon because of the heat. But we had a good time and we have still got friends in Phoenix, they were our neighbours in the RV park (Apache Junction).
One hot weekend to be moving parts from one garage to another here in Phoenix, 120 degrees on my side of the valley !!!!!!!!!! Lots of good stuff for DA FREAK as many parts are N.O.S. still in the AMC package from years ago. I found a old AMC photo of what my wagon will look like in barbados blue metalic !!! 1967 Ambassador factory 4-speed station wagon 990 , only 10 or so ever built this way !!!! " Da ' FREAK " !!!! I will be restoring my Wagon to look just like this and enjoying it for many years . I will do the work at my friends restoration shop this way I can enjoy other muscle cars and great friends. Think about it! A 1967 Ambassador Wagon with a factory installed 343 4bbl, 2.64 1st gear T-10 4 spd, 3.15 limited slip rear, dual exhaust, power disc brakes, quick ratio manual steering, front bench seat all in Barbados Blue paint with a dark blue interior. There may have only been between 9 & 12, 1967 full size wagons built with the 343 4bbl 4 spd combo period. This may be the rarest Regular Production AMC ever built, believed to be the only survivor. Rarer than the 1969 ½ Hurst prepared SS AMX. or Hurst SC/Rambler !
