Welcome 74Satellite! Sure like your matching Satellites! Your rust issues make me wonder where your wagon is from. Any history on it? David
It has a texas registration sticker from 1994 on the windshield. Previous owner stated it has been sitting in his yard for 16 years. I bought it from a gentleman just north of San Antonio. I think just it sitting with grass grown up under it with precipitation in that grass is what caused the rust. He said he parked it in late 1994 because he thought the engine died. Within minutes of getting it home I had it running enough to drive it around the block a couple times. Now it wont start again, I think the timing chain is really loose, it has 152,000 miles on it. It will crank all day but not fire...I am not worried about it though as the 318 is getting yanked in favor of a 400 anyways. But yeah, I wasnt too happy to uncover all the rust once I started getting into it. After I pulled up the rubber matting on the floor and went to pull the rear seat to get the build sheet, my right foot went through the floor right behind the driver seat. Thankfully I have a rust free, 1974 roadrunner that I am going to use the panels from to replace these. Just need to buy a welder or find someone in the longview area that already has one. LOL This project will most likely take me a few years to complete (I cant really dig to deep into it yet as I am in school fulltime (15 years later than I should have gone). Ive already started the 4 speed conversion parts gathering as well getting the interior parts together. It is brown originally but I am converting it to the SEM color pacific blue. I plan on keeping the body white and tinting the windows as dark as legally allowed.
