so i was thinking for my roadmaster wagon i could get a long piece of some flat exotic hardwood(maybe some birds eye maple or some other impressively figured wood) and make a new dash cover panel since the owner before me had the original cover poorly secured and while taking a sharp turn it broke off. i always though fake wood dashboards were ugly as hell anyways. Just some ideas i was tossing around in my head.
pic related just to give you an idea.

Seems like potentially a lot of work, but woodworking is not my thing. I've seen a lot of homemade car woodworking projects and most have looked like, well, homemade car woodworking projects. How would you attach the panel to the dash? I am guessing the faux panel is held in place with spring clips?
