I have a 1980 impala wagon and this ad hit kijiji and i'm wondering if a 79 caprice wagon would be the same body size bumpers ect. http://saskatchewan.kijiji.ca/c-car...assic-estate-station-wagon-W0QQAdIdZ454178576
Yes, many parts will be common. Nearly all the structural part are identical. There are trim/color differences between the Caprice and Impala (Caprice trim looked more luxurious). I don't remember if interior colors were common from 79 to 80. The bigger appearance changes occurred from 80 to 81.
Thank you for the responce i thought things changed from 79/80 so thats good to know. it would be nice to see an actuall pic but for 500 even if i just used the bumpers for spare i think that would cover the cost of the car.
There are many pictures on the web. Click on this link for the results of a Google image search for 79 Caprice station wagon: https://www.google.com/search?q=197...nBISW8gTGmoHACg&ved=0CDMQsAQ&biw=1600&bih=772 Some individual pics: and from this forum gallery:
uh my head is hurting from actually considering yet another wagon to my fleet before doing one up right. and if i do drive all the way i'll bring her home..... what to do should i concentrate on one or save another
77 caprice body on a 9C1 There's a guy on another forum putting a 77 caprice body on a 9C1 frame. It's a 94 if I remember right, so he'll have all the LT1 drive train, anti-lock brakes, and modern goodies on an older car. Says the swap is relatively simple. same wheel base, similar body mounts. Says there's a lot of similaritys between all B bodys.
And yes they do still make Fords but most all of the good ones were made before the turn of the century. mike
