Hey Rob, I have those mouldings off my wagon...they are yours. PM me.

The Electra had both a Standard and a Custom model. The Custom was the only one eligible to recieve the Limited trim option. That accounts for the rediculously long name Buick Electra 225 Custom Limited Sport Coupe.

I have the sticker for the parts coupe...it was a pretty car when new.
(tried to scan it and attatch, but it's not working.)

I would love to have you come by when you are in Dallas next year! Let's work that out. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

David, you've been keeping secrets from us.......way to go!

Very nice project. Nice to see some out-of-the box thinking.

Just for some inspiration, check out this page.
    http://www.einstyn.com/einstyn-hardtop.htm

Not many people remember that '66 - '72 Chevelles (along with other GM mid-sizers) were available as 4-door hardtops. This guy is converting a '70 Chevelle Malibu wagon into a 4-door HARDTOP Malibu wagon.

( Note: The page hasn't been updated for quite some time. The project may have been stalled or abandoned. )

    David,
will PM you about the moldings (y)

Wonder whether Electra fender skirts will work on your Wagon.....
I assume the parts car was a 72 ? Do you still have access to that car?

As plans are now I will collect a 68 Wildcat in MI and drive it from there to rhe east coast, FL, AL into TX where the Cat will be shipped (Houston-Europe)

Are you a member on the v8buick.com board?

    Rob, yes on the PM.

My parts car is a 72 and I still have it. Lots of good parts.

I was all set to do the fender skirts but it would have meant cutting up my absolutely perfect quarter panels and I just couldn't bring myself to do that.

As you know, the quarters of these GM wagons are very artfully done, cleverly preportioned to disguise the bulk of the fuel tank and spare tire areas. A pleasing outcome with the skirts was not a sure thing, and once I cut up these flawless panels there would be no going back.

Plus, when I put the road wheels on my wagon, I actually was glad to not cover them with skirts. Those wheels tranformed my wagon from dumpy to sporty instantly.

Can't wait to meet you next July. :bouncy:

And I do need to join v8buick.

    David

Hey David! Wow, this looks great! And as I read earlier in this thread, BRAVE. I certainly don't have that kind of skill in my tool box. I'm intimidated by trying to fix my seat belt reminder system! LOL Congrats on your progress and good luck. Can't wait for future pics!

Thanks Rev, Chadwa and Matthew. Everyone has been so nice to me. I was actually expecting a little negative reaction to this project, but nothing so far.

As far as you guys not having the skills...I think anyone could do this! It is not as hard as it looks. I was kind of scared to make that first cut, but so sure of my vision, that I almost couldn't wait any longer to do it. Once I finally tore into it, it was easy.
These cars are so easy! :smash:

And I think if someone has a sawzall and a litte MIG welder, it's a piece of cake.

You've got an oil tanker frame under yours. After seeing my donor's Canadian floor,
    restostrt01.jpg
... I wouldn't do it without putting new subframes . Lots of guys have made their 4-dr Fox wagons into 2-drs, but you're upgrade brings a nice touch of class. The Fox Z-7 roofline would be nice, sort of like a Crown Imperial chrome bar over the roof, and I've been tempted. Finding a Z-7 is a bit of a challenge. Worse than finding another wagon.

Norm, that Z-7/Futura idea would be so cool. I think that would be a beautiful wagon mod. Be on the look out and make it happen! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
A good challenge is a good thing!  (y)

Rob, we are on the same track! I am going to use the coupe's trunk cover on my wagon's rear lock. Also, I am using some Electra wheel cover badges on the center caps of my road wheels. Then. all the ornamentation will match the Estate Wagon hood badge. (y)

I'm terrible for ideas. More than I can afford to build! Its not my fault either, I wake up with a bunch of them buzzing around in random order! :biglaugh:

I'll figure something out to find one, amybe next year. Too much on my plate right now with the Renos.
