Man, I have followed Vettemans project and it's quite evident it isn't for the faint of heart. But it's also neat to see that a person with some mechanical aptitude can indeed do a swap like this in their own garage. Good luck and be sure to keep us updated on your progress.
I didn't do anything to it... but I drove it to Speed Week and back. The salt makes any car look good...
Progress is slow, slow, slow... But there is some. First, I bought another (micro)wagon to drive daily: And started tearing into my donor: The Electra is drying off in the garage. Once I'm done scavenging the corpse of this Burb, I'll pull the engine and tranny from the Buick. Anyone need a 307?
It's a Scion (Toyota) xA. Came out around the same time as the Nissan Cube and the Kia Soul. I assume the Buick is drying because you pressure-washed it? That's what I should've done to my Ranchero when I pulled the drivetrain.
I suspected that it was related to the Daihatsu I now drive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_bB#Materia
Where is "Here" for you? UK? I see in your profile that you have a Toyota Yaris Verso... In the late 90's, Toyota developed a chassis they used on lots of different compact cars called NBC (New Basic Compact). It was first on the Yaris/Echo/Vitz (XP10), then later on your Yaris Verso (XP20), and later on a Japanese model called the bB (XP30), as well as piles of others cars. Then, in the States only, Toyota released a new brand called Scion, and rebadged a few models that were never sold in the states. A tiny little hatchback called the xA and my "new" car, the xB (XP30). The xB is a Toyota bB that has been rebadged and tweaked for the USDM market. The second gen xB is a MUCH larger car and not based on the Japanese bB any longer.
No, because our Washington rainy season is making a mockery of the 80's era "seals". Good call on the pressure wash, I probably should pull it back out and do that before I dig into it.
Germany. Or to be specific, what's left of it That was because of a lockout. What I really drive is similar. But, not nearly as ugly: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/threads/is-my-wagon-a-wagon.49642/ I'd still own a Verso, before considering most other brands
The nose knows. We have an LTD (Large Thirsty Dog) in the garage with the same affliction. And it, too, is donating itself to another car.
