Who knows? Likely, it's an "Eye of the Beholder" proposition in most cases, but there are likely a few worth a pretty penny also, such as John Wayne's custom Pontiac Safari with the raised roof, so he could drive with his Stetson firmly on his head. True Story.

Do you mean one specific wagon, like what Andrew is referencing above? Or are do you mean make/model?

Probably as many answers to that question as there are active members on this forum........

Tell you what, I'll just list some of the 'most collectible' on my personal list. This list has a wide range of values, from a few thousand to over 100k...... and NOT in any particular order...

    - Chevy Nomad, 1955 - 1957
    - Full-sized GM wagons, 1965 - 1970 (Pontiacs especially)
    - GM 'Clam Shell' wagons, 1971 - 1976
    - EARLY Ford 'real wood' station wagons, 1930's and 40's
    - Ford Country Squires - practically ANY year
    - GM 'hardtop' wagons from Buick and Oldsmobile, 1957 and 1958 (in good shape, these are worth $100k +....)
    - Chrysler (and Dodge) hardtop wagons, 1960 - 1964
    - Mercury hardtop wagons, 1957 - 1960
    - Chevelle (Malibu) wagons - 1964 - 1972
    - Olds Vista Cruiser / Buick Sport Wagons, 1964 - 1972

This is by no means a complete list, just something I came up with in the time I had.......

I agree with Marshall. One person's criteria for what makes something collectible is going to be different than the next person's criteria.

Well, there was that 79 - 89 Ford Country Squire or LTD that was done up like the Family Truckster and it sold for somewhere around $100k recently (this year or last year) but it's not the only custom job of its kind; what makes this one in particular special is it was owned by one of the actresses in the movie, if I remember right.

Someone should mention the last Packards made for what, 57 or 58? Those may be worth something significant but I don't really know, I never looked; I'm just mentioning it due to their sheer scarcity. Very few Packards were made then since Packard was about ready to shut down.

Right. Someone could say that 55-57 Pontiac Safaris are the most collectible because they were only made for 3 years and in low numbers. Someone else could say that Rolls Royce Shooting brakes owned by British royalty are the most collectible because of who they belonged to. And someone else could say the first generation chivy Corvair wagon are the most collectible due to their innovation and relative scarcity now a days.
It's all in the eye of the beer holder.

To even begin to answer this question you first have to come to an agreed upon definition of a station wagon. Good luck with that.
