What a gorgeous car. Well-equipped. I wonder if the a/c works. That interior looks like it came out of the factory yesterday. My only question is the cover on the dash. Is it hiding something, or is it just there to protect the dash from the New Mexico sun? https://roswell.craigslist.org/cto/d/roswell-1969-oldsmobile-98-4-dr-sedan/6956739878.html
Is that interior correct? Seems like with the Buick’s it would be a carry over from the brocade that is in the door panels. Olds guys know more than me, but I’m a bit suspect of the interior. It kinda reminds me of mid ‘80’s Grand Marquis fuuuze’ it really is in stunning shape.
I suppose anything is possible, but I think it's original. Here's the back seat, which nicely matches the front. And here's an image from the '69 Olds brochure showing a 98 interior. Very similar pattern in the upholstery.
It's there to protect buyers from seeing the cracks. If the dash were crack-free, I'm sure that he would have uncovered it for photo sessions. Anymore, I'd accept a cracked dash as a fact of life
I have seen many Southern California, NM, NV, & AZ cars with covers there just to protect the dash pad. But befre buying the car I would at least want pictures of the dash with the cover removed just to be sure. With the condition of the rest of the interior, it would surprise me if the pad was cracked. But as we used to say, Trust but Verify! I like that it is a 2 tone car, not a Vinyl roof car. The 2 tone paint was at least twice as expensive as a Vinyl top.
Yeah. Unless Olds lost their collective mind in 1969, the seat examples in the brochure was how those came. These seats either are re-upholstered, or have form-fitting seat covers (completely de-wrinkled) applied.
