Not far from me. Not sure if this has been posted yet or not. (Not my car).

1978 Buick Estate Wagon w/Limited package...

    http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/5141309549.html

"Up for sale is a rare 1978 Buick Estate Wagon w/ the Limited package. The car is fully loaded.

    - 403ci V8 (special ordered)
    - automatic transmission
    - power disc brakes
    - power steering
    - power windows (left rear window not working)
    - power tail gate window
    - power seat
    - power locks
    - AM/FM/CB radio (yes, it has a factory CB radio) currently not working
    - climate controlled AC (blows cool)
    - power antenna (currently not working)
    - rear window defrost
    - cruise control
    - tilt steering column
    - rear facing third seat
    - rally wheels
    - two-way tail gate
    - luggage rack

The car also has a trailer hitch and rear air shocks if you want to two your vintage camper.

The odometer reads 32,000+ miles. It's probably 132,000, not sure.

The carpet looks new, the interior has no rips or tears in the seats, and the headliner is perfect.

This is a rare color combination for a wagon.

Headlights, tail lights, turn signals, brake lights all work.

The following has been done to the car:
    - The gas tank was taken out and cleaned. A new sending unit was installed. The tank was undercoated and reinstalled.
    - Fuel lines and filters were replaced.
    - New fuel pump
    - New master cylinder
    - Full tune up
    - New battery
    - New tires

The car runs, drives, shifts, and stops good. Is it perfect? No. It is 37 years old. However, unlike most wagons from the '70's, it has survived. There aren't many of these old Buicks left on the road.

Asking $3800. I might consider trading for another old wagon, vintage camper, or other old car.

Here's a link to 35 photos of the car.

    Looks nice.

I'm thinking I remember this Buick and that it belongs to forum member Professor.

I love this color combo and the bordello interior especially. And special-order Olds-power FTW!

    Does it have a TH-350 or a TH-400?
Are those 15" wheels? What bolt pattern?

    Power everything too.

All of that for only $3800 AND for sale by a forum member - seems like a hella deal.

I believe the T-400's were gone in B-bodies after 1976, so I am pretty sure this would be a T-350. Even my Police package 78 Impala had a T-350 in it.
As for Wheel Bolt pattern it should be 15" 5X5" I have never seen a 77-79 Buick, Olds, or Pontiac wagon with the 5X4 3/4" wheels. I did get burned buying a set of Plain steel wheels off 77 Impala Wagon that was used as a Taxi, it had a 250 I-6 for an engine, I did not know you could order the Six for fleet sales in wagons until I saw that car.

I don't mean to threadwhore, but I am turned on by this wagon's equipment. Yes, the wagon probably has 5x5 running gear -that's what makes those wheels so great. Professor please confirm 15" wheels - and do you know what width (6" or 7")?

It has been my experience that 15x7 Rallye Is in 5x5 are made out of unobtanium. I'm not a Buick expert but I understood that this specific wheel was only available on the "Riviera" and "Wildcat" models. I learned this info while trying to source Olds Rallye Is in 5x5 - also unavailable, and not currently manufactured new as near as I can tell.

    Look here:

    http://www.wheelvintiques.com/index.php/wheels/where/category/muscle.html

"Magnum 500" (Ford) is typically 5x4.5 pattern
"Buick Rallye I" and "Olds Rallye I" are typically 5x4.75 pattern - this is the "small bolt pattern" Rallye

I'm open to learning new things and perhaps I am mistaken - but I can't find a retailer to sell me "big bolt pattern i.e. 5 lugs x 5" center" GM Rallye Is in 15" diameter x (any width).

    Hello Folks!

The Buick is well-equipped. That, and the color combination, is what attracted me to it. It was basically sitting in, what I would call, a junkyard.

The wheels are 15". As far as the width, I think they are 6", but I have to check for sure.

If all goes well, she is going to a new home in Texas.
