The main problem is the transporters are busy taking snowbirds south. Oh well, my friend and I are both retired. ROAD TRIP!!!

We were in Illinois but came back to Florida around first of October. We're roughly 50 miles west of you. All I see are pine trees, Grand Daddy oaks, and palm trees. So far these leaves look the same as they did in July and the AC is on!

Son had me lined up with a friend to haul three cars 1000 miles north for around $700. That $700 turned into $2000 and climbing!

    That's a good point, Art.
I tend to forget that it's that time of the year again. I'm sure they have been booked months in advance.
Well, as long as you have a buddy willing to keep you company and do the trip with you...go for it!

I didn't realize you're doing the "snowbird" thing. I don't blame you. It's been a hell of a winter up there and I'm sure you don't want to experience it this year.
It's been a repeat of summer lately after experiencing a well awaited taste of fall last month.
...and yes, the a/c is back on...*groan*.

$700.00 to haul 3-cars 1000 miles sounded too good to be true. Did he do a bait and switch on you?

Not snowbirds. Went back for a 1st birthday/adoption party and to finally check out the house we bought last Oct.
:character0182:About the car hauler, son probably wasn't listening to the man. Most likely $700 each car.
From what I've learned most are $1.00 a mile and I'd imagine for each car. Considering buying a used full sized van and using my 18' flat bed. That's how I made seven trips down here. Of course my wife was younger then!:slap::redface:

Sounds like it's nitrouspig's old car....2 tone blue, polished TT IIs. I saw it on CL, just couldn't make the time to go get it....have had poor luck with transporters in the past.

Drove to Wisconsin, met the owner Monday morning. He sais we have a problem, the transmission is slipping. I get my money back and drove back to Florida. Anyone have or know of a G-body wagon for sale?

Let me say this, the wagon was very nice. If it had been closer I would have bought it.

I guess there was no way having the trans serviced was in the equation....that's too bad...especially after traveling that distance.

I guess it's back to the drawing board...
BTW, what trans was in this car? Was he willing to work with you on getting the trans working properly?

I am sure he would, but I couldn't stay. Bad planning on my part.

Jack, If it was the original, it would have been a TH250...based on the previous ones I have owned.

    Brian,
I didn't know if it was original or not. Most of these cars have had a trans replacement or upgrade.
I know mine originally had the dreaded TH200 metric in it until it gave up the ghost one day and put a TH350 in it...which will likely be replaced with a 200-4R.
