I want to make a small floor console for my 73 Squire to hold 8 track and a cup holder . Any ideas ? Thanks
Buy a sheet of MDF from your local big box store. Good stuff to build consoles out of. Haven't done one yet, but it's my intent. It's what a lot of interior customizers use. Easy to shape and trim. Cover it with virneer / vaneer / vearneer / (sp?) (LOL)
Yup, agree...that or 1/4 inch plywood then wrap it in vynal, vinal, vinyl (SP? All in fun KK, not like I've never know how to spill sum-tin obline ) IMPORTANT IMO, seen many and even online here where the base of console was made 90 degree/parallel with the trans hump and or a bench seat Seen a lot of real nice jobs done but console/cup holder slopes with what it was put on, not flat/level as it should be.....Hope I explained that correct???? Edit.... Creeepy...KK's post #5 kinda shows what I'm talking about. Notice the car 4-sale's console, clearly made for it and it's flat, curved around the trans hump...made to fit correct. Then the comparison car with the universal plastic one, notice it's sloped down, seen many a nice job done wrong IMO because it's not level as in this wagon for sale. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37073
Yes, Tedy. Important to take good measurements. Might also want to first fab up a prototype in cardboard or some other cheap throw-away wood.
Go to search and there are several threads on this already. Then viiineeer some villnyl over it! Measure it twice then cut it and glue some back on the short side!
?????? the search feature works for you! I plug in for example in "Key Words" 1972 blue Dodge Coronet....... I get every thread that mentions 1972, every thread that mentions blue, every thread that mentions Dodge, every thread that mentions Coronet.....with the exception of one thread that NEVER comes up..... the one that has the 1972 blue Dodge Coronet I'm looking for!!!:banghead3:
