Ah Yugo's Decontented Fiat 128's that rust faster than Fiat's. A coworker of mine back in the late 80's actually paid over sticker in Conn. For a car the Local Buick Dealerships in Mich were giving away free with the purchase of a Full Size Buick!!!! I worked as a Mechanic in a Fiat dealership in 79-80 and every Manual transmission Fiat I ever saw had a Hydrolic Clutch, I could not beleive the 87 Yugo had a cable operated Clutch!!!!! His car was actually pretty reliable up to about 80,000 miles. Then I think he should have set it on fire!!!! Never went anouther week without needing something repaired, I was very happy when he got married and his new wifes family tookpity on him and gave them there old LTD when they bought a new car. But for $900 you could brobably do alot worse than that Yugo! I can't beleive I just wrote that!!!!!!!!
Ge thanks for the picture. At least I got to see snow and feel better that I didn't have to shovel any for at least one more winter. Oh and the bird feeder was nice!
Well, that's funny: "no joy rides". It was always a dream of mine to get to drive a Yugo. Guess I can't go see this one.
Most of you pretty much know by now that I like hated cars, orphaned cars, and cars people would normally give away. I'd drive this. I'd actually use it for work purposes just to make my roadside service customers feel better about their own rides. It would also guarantee no one would try to take my job away from me if they had to drive it.
I drove a rental FIAT 128 sedan (Yugo) in Greece once. For about five kilometers. After the first mile or so, the car began smoking...INSIDE the car, and no, it was not a busted heater core. Drove it right back to the rental agency, and demanded another rental. He tried to claim I jacked his POS car up, when he was fully aware it was a POS when he signed it out. Got a better rental though, when a Greek cop wandered by and saw the commotion. Ended up with a decent Lancia sedan. Interesting trip, that was.
Yugo outside if you want to Cat, I'll stay inside where it's warm. I'd buy this car for $900 just to have a quirky, unusual car. But seller sounds like one of those ornery Vermont types. Be careful you don't offer him only $800 and get him all riled up.
