Figured I'd start a thread about my Squire - I hope to turn this into a slightly modded driver. It last ran and drove a number of years ago so it shouldnt NEED a lot, but its fought me every step of the way so far.. The car was about an hour from my house in rural Saskatchewan ( bonus points to an american that knows where that is) A buddy and I crawled around it, VERY surprised how good of condition the car was in. It has power locks and windows.. the seats with exception to a small hole in the drivers area are perfect - except for a little mildew. Drove back to the city and directly to the owners place and struck a deal on the car... rallied a few friends... borrowed a truck and trailer and set out to retrieve the car. It put up a fight, 2 of the 4 wheels were locked up so we essentially spent 3 hours dragging it out of the yard, down the alley and winching it onto the trailer. jacked the car up on the trailer the next day and backed off the brakes, got it unloaded and into the yard.. (another 2hrs that ended at a the pinnacle of ratchet strapping it to a big tree and pulling it into the side yard..) Then as if I didnt feel enough like a knob for being completely under equipped to move around a 4000lb hulk.. last night I spent another 2 hours getting it OUT of the yard and into the garage... where... it makes my small garage feel VERY SMALL... next step is flushing the fuel system.. carb cleaning, fluid changes and see how this beast runs.. I'll post some better interior pictures soon.
This is an impressive photo. You got the car into this position in the garage with two of the four wheels locked and the car not able to move under its own power? Very impressive indeed. This is such a nice photo, you should make next year's Christmas cards out of it. It's got the requisite snow and everything.
While I appreciate the nice words - I got the wheels moving while it was on the trailer when the tires got into the garage the car was put onto dollies and this allowed the car to be spun.. My garage is only 19'2" and the car is 18'4" so sideways is the only option to be able to move around the car lol... and the ice and snow was the very reason why it was such a pain in the ass to move the car around

well I hope to pilot this car around, so who knows maybe I'll make it to winterpeg one day soon! Were you able or did you need too locate a replacement panel for the "trunk" floor? would a Galaxie trunk pan work? I did some cleaning up last night and found some cancer there. We did a little housekeeping last night... cleaned out the interior, very happy with the results.. One half clean... one not all "clean" Lucy... we got some painting to do... And the aftermath...
No,i never searched for a trunk pan.my project needed only a patch so i didn't bother replacing the whole pan.I am not sure whether a Sedan pan would fit,i have to check my photos to find out. The seats cleaned up really good,what did you use? Look at that dash,no cracks,i am jealous..
I used "simple green" from Canadian tire, and a small scrub brush. the dash is good but isn't perfect... for some reason the picture doesnt show the cracks. I havent got a chance to remove seats and have a good close look at the trunk floor, but a patch may be an option.. there is also a decent dent in the fuel tank to atempt to pull out
Cleaning up very nicely. The scratches in the third seat area ought to go away nicely with a little paint at some point. Very nice car. I like your dog, too.
Thats Turbo... at 13 he doesn't do much anymore lol Thx, I plan to get that cargo area painted soon... toying with a color tinted linex.. but I doubt it.
this explains the fuel (or vanish) smell more bad news... Compression test didn't go well.... oil spitting out cylinder #3 here's why.. flame on... weighing options on a rebuild vs swap. old cars are fun!
