Wonder what the story is behind this car? Sitting in a garage somewhere for 26 years? Sold for $8,000.
The guy was probably embarrassed on the drive home by all the people pointing and laughing so he parked it in his garage and figured he would just put up with all of the middle fingers and expletives hurled his way while driving his old Peugot.
I can't believe someone paid $8000 for it. My experience with working on 5 or more year old Mitzu Electical systems would have me more likely to set that one on fire than buy it.
My mother in law had the Dodge Colt version of this same car. With the non-turbo little Four and an automatic, the zero-60 time was measured with a sundial. What a complete and utter POS that transportation module was - I can't call it a "car". She asked me to change the oil once. It took over an hour to remove brackets to access the damn filter! Never again. I'm glad to see one is still alive here, just to show people how hideous some cars can be; and that we should never build or buy such crap ever again!!! The featured car is probably the very definition of a $hitmobile, that it only managed to go less than 50 miles, to begin with!
Whoa there Patrick, you're harshing on a favorite of mine..... Back when our daughters were just little kidlettes, we had one of these, a '86 Dodge Colt Vista, in a red-ish maroon. This was around 1990 or so.... Saw a dealer ad in the paper - Longo Toyota in El Monte, which was at the time, probably the biggest Toyota dealer in the world. This was also just before Roger Penske bought it. Anyways, I kinda liked the way they looked. Found out it was fantastic for schleping two little kids and all their 'stuff' around. I believe this was the vehicle I used to help move my folks from the LA area up to Carson City, Nevada. I got to take the dogs.....among other things. My only dislike - it wasn't really the Vista I wanted. I wanted the 4x4 model, and also the power windows and locks. Had 'what if' thoughts later about dropping the 3.0 V6 from the Mitsubishi Sigma / early Caravan into it. As the girls got a bit older and bigger, we decided to up-size our minivan experience and traded it in for a Ford Aerostar Eddie Bauer.
Is 50 miles all they were good for? Here's another one. http://hooniverse.com/2014/07/19/we...sta-wagon-with-only-53-miles-on-the-odometer/
Here is the story on this and a few other low mileage vehicles http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/...ely-have-less-than-200-miles/?refer=hccweekly
Man, if I had bought one of these cars new back in the day I would probably have only driven it 50 miles too. Toss it in the garage, hide it under a blanket and try to forget about those 50 miles you had just spent.

It's replacement would probably have been an all-around better vehicle. Engine upgraded to the Mitsu 2.4 - The Mitsubishi Expo
