Figured I would start a Project thread, although this car is not much of a project. Especially compared to a lot of the other project threads.

I purchased Buttercup from the 2nd owner, out of the San Fransisco area. Here are some pics of it being loaded, then unloaded on the transport truck. And the first pic I took of it, while waiting on the local county sheriff to do a VIN verification before getting the tag.

I tinted the windows soon after I got it. The only other thing I've done is a front suspension rebuild, replacing the coil springs with Eaton lowering springs. I also went with some 17" wheels/tires. Here's how it looks and sits now.

Final stance is looking great, I always thought about dropping the front as well on my Olds but this tipped the scale!

That's a nice looking wagon and I love the nose down look.

Very nice, I think those are some of the most beautiful wagons ever made.

Yeah....kinda hard to look mean or should I say you better be pretty darn mean with a name like "Buttercup":rofl2::biglaugh:

I do like the new stance but when it comes to the wheels I'd prefer the old ones:sorry:

But it's your ride, if you are happy that is all that matters.:tiphat:

I don't see much of a difference between the old and the new wheels  I like it either way. I agree with Tedy, which is amazing, you've got a cool, mean looking Buttercup there. :)

My wife had come up with the name Buttercup, and it stuck. I guess it's because of the color (light yellow, like butter), even though Buttercup is a flower, which is normally a darker shade of yellow than the wagon.

Forgot to mention that I also had a custom complete dual exhaust installed, with a pair of 2-chamber Flowmaster 40 wanna-be mufflers.

Also, forgot to mention that it's one of 230 '76 Villager wagons with a 460. You very rarely see any '72 - '76 Villager wagons, much less one with a big block (429 or 460). Which is why I bought this thing out of California.

With the 460 and exhaust, it does sound pretty mean.

Fannie, the wheels are similar, in style, to the old ones. I like the Magnum 500 look, but wanted a 17" or 18" wheel. This is what I came up with.

Next time I get it out, I'll get more pics of the interior, engine, etc...

Not a whole lot of updates to report, except the A/C. A local shop was recommended to convert my A/C to R134a, so I decided to go for it. I've been dreading the upcoming drive to Louisville with no A/C. I'm going to the Street Rod Nationals next week. Turned out that I had a bad compressor, so it cost a good bit more than I had hoped. Unfortunately, I just don't have the free time to do my own wrenching, or I would have tried it myself. Picked her up last night, and am so glad I invested the money. She's blowing ice cold.

I'm going to throw some vintage luggage on her tomorrow, and drive the family to the theatre to watch the new Vacation movie.
