Got to give the wipers a work out today...man did it rain this morning. They were actually a bit sluggish in the beginning but improved as I went along.
Having fun working out the bugs...:D

As soon as I got home from work this evening, I cleaned the windows and drove to a local cruise-in. :)

72 Kingswood draw much attention at cruise-in?

I figure muscle cars, street rods, 30s-50s cars would steal show.

You'd be surprised how much attention a clean '70s - '80s longroof attracts at a car event these days! I've taken my '86 Ford CS to a couple of cruise-ins and had a great time with it.

Yeah, actually it does, lol. One evening at a larger weekly cruise-in a couple of weekends ago, a spectator stopped me as I was leaving and said, "is that a '72? That is the FIRST clamshell wagon that I have ever saw down here, that is so cool"... so he knew his wagons. lol.

The last cruise-in some guy kept looking at the engine, then the "400" emblems on the fender and asked me if I put in the 402. He said I was wondering why it has 400 emblems on the fenders, but has a 402. I told him that was a good question. I almost told him to ask someone that worked at GM in 1972. lol. I told him that for some reason they put "400" badges on the "402" big block cars in '72 and I think no badges on the actual "400" small block cars. Naturally he looked at the under hood sticker and saw it was a factory 402 car. lol.

I also get a lot of looks on the road... my dad (not a wagon fan) says it is because the car is so ugly.

I can overhear a lot of people say, my dad had one, or we had one when I was a kid... then they will say, look, it has a 3rd row seat, etc. Then I will hear, look a Brady wagon... though theirs was a non-wood-grain Plymouth mid-size wagon... something about a brown 70s wagon makes it a Brady wagon. lol.

Thanks. The battery is fairly new; Purchased April 2014 by the previous owner. I notice that the lights in the doors are bulbs and not LEDs as they get fairly warm.

I drove down to the big local cruise-in this evening and all I had to do was push a spark plug wire back on that had fallen off. lol.

Had a good time and a lot of lookers.

Sharing some photos of mine and some other wagons down there this evening.

    Thanks for pictures.
Rambler wagon is same color scheme as 59 Villager.
Wide whites & full wheel covers too. Like it much.

Pictures bring out fastback style rear of Kingswood. Is classy:)
1960 Ford wagons are much like that. Not other years.

Thanks 72, for the pics of your cruise night. I'm thinking you had a nice turn out of wagons. I go to a couple of cruise nights every now and again; my Colony Park isn't in anywhere near the shape of your's, so when it's parked next to all the minted out/restored cars, it kind of doesn't measure up. I do always put a sticker on the window that says, "Hey, it's only original once".
The car you spotted at the traffic light, I would say is an 80's Country Squire. Do you agree?

Looked like a nice downtown car show. Makes me feel badly we didn't go home to Illinois and attend the nice show they have end of July downtown. I enjoy small town shows like that. Thanks. Your wagon and everything else looks great.

Thanks for the photos, 72Kingswood. Yes I did see the white (1970s Ford?) wagon in that photo.

As for the Mercury; The car started yesterday, Then we pulled it out. Tried starting it again, Didn't work. Charged a battery-starter doohickey (Hah, Gotta learn what it's called) and used that, got the car started and pulled it in. Charged the battery some more and now have it on a trickle charger. Hopefully it only needed to be charged. (It was purchased about four months ago by the previous owner.)

101 possibly there still is something draining the battery. Do you have a spare battery you can try for awhile? Borrow it from your wife's car or a neighbor when they are not looking.
