Sorry guys, the wagon is no longer available. I cleaned it up and took it to the Mecum auction here and it sold for 87,500. You guys were right when you say "it'll buff right out!!!!!!"

Sorry, the car went and sold so fast I couldn't get a pic of it.....kinda like those old billboards for Buick that would show the kids standing in the wind saying "Boy, that's travelling"...

    Gotcha!

Well, its funny "youz guyz" ask about the Buick. Yes I got it, and it was free, both rust-free and totally free, and I just got the title in my name a few hours ago. I'm not one to spoil a surprise, but one of the "heavy hitters" here in SWF land got it and is coming down next week with a flatbed and taking it back home. I'll let him take over from here, as he'll be the proud papa.....

CatModelT - I agree, most of the stories you hear like this are "too good to be true" but you gotta remember - it's me! I've had crazy ****e happen to me since the day I was born, so it's gonna happen! Thankfully I haven't been struck by lightning yet, but I have had my hair stand up though.....

Sometimes you just have to take the leap of faith.....

OK, I'll let the cat out of the bag.
I didn't want to say anything about this until I got it home, just in case something happened and the deal fell through. But it looks like this is really going to happen!

From the minute I saw the original post, I knew I couldn't resist this project.

I'm headed to New Mexico next week to get the car ready for transport.
Hopefully, it will be here in Michigan by July 26 or thereabouts.

I haven't finalized my build plans, but i do have a rough plan of attack in mind.

First, I'll clean it out and assess everything.
At this point, I am planning to make it safe and drivable as soon as possible.
I don't know if I'm going to pull the body off the frame, but I will definitely replace all the body mount bushings and core support bushings.
Then convert the brakes to a dual-circuit master cylinder and add power brakes.
I've got a line on a rebuilt 1958 Dynaflow transmission, so I'll probably keep the drivetrain original.
The 364 nailhead will be rebuilt.
I know where I can get all the glass.
Interior is a big question mark.
I might decide to add A/C, too.

Potential cost of stainless and chrome has me scared, but we'll see how it all looks when I get it all back here.

I'll post a project thread, but it's going to take me years to do this car.

I just couldn't let this one go by; I think those hardtop wagons are SO cool!

I can't thank moparandfomoco enough for his support and efforts on this adventure!
I'm really looking forward to meeting him next week and spending some fun time together.

We're going to spend two days together getting the car ready for shipment and generally enjoying ourselves.

    More to follow....

Holy cow, what a wonderful ending, (or beginning), to a great find. Best of luck, jmt on your new project. Can't wait to follow along with it. Those Caballeros and the Olds Fiestas are rare and getting rarer all the time. I'm so psyched this one found a great home and is in the best possible of hands.
Station Wagon Forums comes through again!

Nice to hear Jmt Joe got the wagon. It's gonna be quite a project but glad it was found by a station wagon lover and went to another. Damned that would sure make a good demo derby wagon!
    :rofl2:

Wow! I thought this thread took a left turn a page back. I spent 1/2 hour on Mecum's site looking for it......:rofl2:

This is going to be soooooo cool, Joe. I may have to take a trip back there to visit the Buick, er.... you.......

As a teenager, a buddy's mother owned a '58 Buick. It was so smooth with that nailhead and the Dynaflow.

Yep; I'm excited about this one!

Here's one of my "inspiration" pics:

I am not 100% certain, but I think this one is the correct color for this car.

I hope I can get it to this level!
