If it were closer to me I might just have to buy that.

This is a super clean looking Olds, particularly the interior.

Nice looking Oldsmobubble! This model is the one that's the heaviest production wagon ever produced, right?

We've had this discussion before, I think it was the 1974 models on which the weight hit its peak, and slightly lighter for '75-'76.

72KingswoodEstate is the expert on the GM clamshells production figures and stats.

LOL, got your PM JWDTENN. Well I don't know about an expert, but I did vastly research these cars in the 80s and 90s when I started becoming a fanatic of these boats. lol. You are right though - if I recall correctly the 1974 Olds Custom Cruiser 3-seater was the absolute heaviest of the clams, but the '75-'76 was almost right there with it - around 5,200 or so? I don't know why the weight went down a little in '75-'76, but it did according to the books and the 1974 wagons were some of the heaviest. The 1971 clamshells were the "lightest", with the '71 6-passenger Biscayne being the lightest naturally, but even that one tipped the scales at nearly 4,700 I think. My '72 Kingswood Estate 9-passenger is just under 5,000 I think.

I cant promise to be right on the money with these numbers and I do not have my books handy. They are stored away somewhere. lol.

Sounds right on the money. Those weights I mentioned (and the ones that Jaunty) posted were curb weights (car completely empty of oils, etc).

Those #s he posted are very familiar. It had been years since I had looked at the weights on these, but I did vividly remember that the '74 3-seater was the heaviest of them all. My weights I remembered were a little lower than they actually are, lol. That '71 2-seater was a light-weight, it didn't even hit 5,000 - sure was close though. LOL.

The '71s were the lightest of all obviously - with the '71 Chevy Biscayne Brookwood 2-seater being the lightest... I think it was around 4,600-4,700 pounds and the '71 Caprice 3-seater around 4,850 or so... it didn't take long for Chevy to catch up, because like I said my '72 Caprice Estate 3-seater was near 5,000 if I recall. Definitely around 4,900 or so. I think the Chevy finally topped the 5,000+ weight starting around 1973 on the 3-seater Caprice Estate and by '74, the Caprice 3-seat was definitely 5,000+ - I think around 5,100. I would love to find those #s again. I had them all typed down somewhere.

Actually, the definition of curb weight on Wikipedia is different:

"Curb weight (US English) or kerb weight (UK English) is the total weight of a vehicle with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables (e.g., motor oil and coolant), a full tank of fuel, while not loaded with either passengers or cargo."

To my mind, all that's necessary to make valid comparisons is that all the cars whose weights are given were weighed under the same conditions. If one has a full tank, all should. Etc.

Obviously choice of accessories in addition to whether or not the car is a two- or three-seater matters, too. We all know how much an air-conditioner compressor weighs, for example, so a non-A/C car will certainly weigh less than one so equipped. Ditto for other accessories, although most probably don't weigh that much individually. For example, how much does adding power locks to a car add to its weight? Probably a pound or two at most?

I bet it would sell quicker with the original wheels on it instead of the truck wheels? And maybe more description on the optional equipment. Looks like a fair price though?

Ad says the car is located between Memphis and St Louis so guess seller is trying a new market.
