Question: Since you are in France, do you have the turn signal separated from the brake lamp? What I mean is, how many bulbs are flashing with the turn signal? If you have 2 flashing at the back, plus the one at the front, then it is the stock configuration. If, however, you have one in the rear plus the one in the front, I would suspect you have the wrong flasher in the system. You want the electronic flasher with 2 tabs, and make sure it states on it that it is good for 2 to 5 bulbs. That should fix the problem, either way. There is the possibility that the old flasher is just done for.

    Hi Mike,
It's right, the previous owner had separated the turn signal and the brake lamp. However, I don't know if the electronic flasher was changed by the previous owner.
After my repair, the turn signal and stop have 2 lamps (stock configuration). And now, I have a faster blinking than before. Maybe, it's the right speed?

Turn your emergency flashers on and see if they blink at the same rate.
    1. If they do, either both have had the flashers changed, or both are correct.
    2. If the flashers blink slower, obtain the same number flasher for the directional.
    3. Also, there are standard and HD flashers with the same part #. The HD is just added after. If your car was equipped with a towing package, it may have the HD flashers in it.

Do you have an owner's manual to check what is required?

The old system had one bulb in the rear that flashed. My bet is that you had a mechanical flasher rated for 2 bulbs in there. To be absolutely sure, remover one of the bulbs, either front or back, depending on which is easier. I would lay money that your flash speed returns to normal. You want the HD electronic flasher now, and they are normally rated for 2 to 5 bulbs. What makes me fairly sure of this is what used to happen, back in the 70s, when you added a trailer to a car. The lights would flash quickly unless a special 'towing package' flasher was used, as the extra load caused the mechanical flasher to blink too quickly. For the price of a flasher, it is worth making the investment. I don't know about there, but here in Canada, they are about $10 for the electronic units. The signal flasher is mounted on the fuse block under the dashboard. The other flasher under there is the 4 way emergency flasher.

    Hi Oldfox and Mike,
I hadn't thought to compare with the Emergency!:slap:
Indeed, they don't blink at the same rate. Emergency is slower (good speed). So I tried the emergency flasher relay on the circuit of directional indicators and .... the flashing speed was good.
So now, I have to change the flasher relay for directionnal indicators.
    Thank you for your help.

I repeat but feel free to correct my english if necessary. I need to learn!

Bullitt, your English is just fine. When you get the flasher, get the electronic one that states it is for 2 to 5 bulbs. That way you will still have signals should one of the bulbs burn out. With the factory type, if a bulb goes out, the signals will not flash. The only thing is you need to check lights for operation, since they will work properly even with a bulb burned out. The other thing is to change both flashers. They are not overly expensive. What you have are the old mechanical units and the springs will be getting weak after this amount of time. If the emergency flasher fails in the wrong position, you can find yourself with no signals at all. For the extra $5, or 4 Euros or so, it is a good investment.
