My NOS hitch arrived today in the original box. Had all the hardware and it was installed in 15 minutes. How sweet is that. Gonna try it out tonight when I take my golf cart back to the campground. So excited!!!!! How silly is that???

I had a new carpet mat made for the cargo area. I found a place that sells remnants, and will cut to size and sew on the binding, for a reasonable price.

This was from a commercial carpet remnant, so it is a super-short, super-tight weave. I also found there a remnant piece of foam padding, designed for area rugs, and had both cut to size and then fabric tape sewn around the edge.

There are places that will make this type of mat out of automotive-grade carpet, but I wanted something a little stiffer. This won't slide around, but it is still easy to remove when I want to open up the third row seats/storage area.

Looks great! I need to get something after my car is finished up so I don't tear up the back, especially with a white interior!

I had a white interior, seats and door panels, in my 1966 Mercury sedan. It looked great when it was clean. However, the car had to sit outside, and eventually the sun caused certain parts of the white upholstery to yellow slightly.

No doubt modern plastics have better UV protection, so that shouldn't be an issue for new upholstery.

Avoiding the use of ArmorAll will go a long ways to help prevent that as well. It will turn plastics yellow/brown and make the brittle, not to mention make them slippery. Do a search on ArmorAll and you will find a bunch of controversy surrounding it. It contains alcohol which is not good for your vinyl, plastics and rubber.

What I use (and has been recommended to me by numerous people) is a product called 303 Aerospace Protectant. It's stupid expensive (about $27 for a large squirt bottle), but it looks awesome, and its what boat folks use to protect their upholstery which gets beat on by the sun and water. It leaves a very natural (not glossy) finish, and it isn't slippery when it dries.

You can find it at boat supply stores.

    Factory option install

Added the factory reel out emergency light last night. Had to fabricate the bracket that holds the switch to the firewall, and use a similar looking type switch from the early 60's since originals are pretty much non-existent. Always like this option.

Replaced the fuel sending unit in the '56 today, what a task!!! They say it's a piece of cake.... can replace in the car. Well the new sending unit has to be twisted to insert in the tank, and the body and the rear end are in the way. while twisting it in place the float popped off the sending unit and into the tank. Remove the tank!!!!! to get the tank out you gotta drop the rear axle for clearance!!!!! Holy crap!!!! Got it all done, fuel gauge is correct, No leaks or fumes. can finally drive without filling up everytime

I lost track of how many 55 Chevy sending units I've replaced. Then a new tank in the wagon. I still don't think it reads correctly. We did change to a Dakota Digital Dash and the guage seems closer. I think I'll buy a Kia!:rofl2:
