Hello Wagon-eers! It has been a long time since I've posted and I apologize for that. I really enjoy this community and enjoy
our interaction but, of late, I've had to change my focus a bit. The season of The Simpsons typically ends with a lay-off
and restart date but, due to intense cut back on the budget, simple ended this year, for me and a couple other long time employees.
I have not been idol, however. The first order of business was getting Ian set up at NU next fall, off to prom and, finally, graduated ...
    valedictorian, if I may boast.
(See, driving a Station Wagon is great for the IQ and keeping track of milage is great for the math skills...)

The 2 of us then went car shopping where we came across this:

A 1 owner car with 72,000 miles on it's Mitsubishi 2.0. (not even broken in yet.) - - - well - - - Ian was more interested in this:

(My cars long lost little brother) a real cream puff of a '95 GS with only 72,000 very gentle miles on it's 3.8, man I wanted this car but,
at about the same value, Ian went for this (A wagon, albeit a 'Volks'wagon... (this one just turned over a couple weeks after we bough it.)
The car is a 1 year only model GLX because of its color combo and interior options (grey over Germ. silver over grey leather.)

Now all of that brings me to this... too many cars... I have an opportunity to buy a nice 2002 Dodge 4dr extended cap Ram Sport 4x4 with
a bed liner and a great Leer cover, all in Flame Red with a perfect, black leather int., all for about $7,000.00. A good replacement for my
F-250 and, at 100K on the "O" and, owned by a wonderful elderly couple, I almost can't go wrong. It would also make more sense, for a
shrinking family than a pick up plus a Suburban with 180K (one still great condidtion though sporting a hardware issue on 1 door and
a few other wear and tear issues.)
This opportunity would mean I'm faced with getting rid of a few cars. On the block are my '99 Suburban, my '79 F-250 Super Cab (still broken)
my 1990 Honda Accord (strong, 130K mi. 5-speed runner with a few, okay several, cosmetic issues and a dead heater/AC blower) ( I absolutely
Love this car and may keep it ...) and, finally ... regrettably ...
    ... deep breath ...
My 1990 Buick Estate Wagon... (Ouch! There, I said it...!)

You guys are the first to hear it. I will put it up in the proper forum and photos may be viewed in my album. The car is a little bit worse for wear
in that the bad side, Di-noc, is a bit worse and there is some rust in a few expected places around the wheel wells (rear), a door (rt. rear, possibly
a replacement anyway) and on the front fenders behind the wheel (You all know the place) The car, in my opinion, is a prime candidate for
refurbishment and GO so if anybody knows anyone who wants a pretty reliable old war wagon with a saggy headliner and a missing hub cap,
please pass it on. I love the car and Ian was very, very good to it. The day Ian picked up his new car, I was in heaven over having 'my' car back and
I couldn't wait to hop in and drive it. I spent a day cleaning it up and appreciating hoe well it has held up. There's still under 95K on it and I, along with
my youngest son, Matthew, am a bit heart broken over the prospects of letting 'er go but it's either the wagon or my '69 Pontiac convertible and I'm just not
there yet... (also, after next school year ends, I'll be faced with finding another car for my 2 youngest kids. still have that Accord, however, that Colt is sounding
better all the time. Wonder if it is still available...) I really want this car to find a good home and I want to give it a more dignified future than to send it to the
scrap heap. I'm thinking of starting at about $1,800 to $2,000 here, hoping to get my investment back out of it. Check out the photos and I'll get some updated
shots loaded soon but let me know if you think I'm being reasonable ...(or if I should ask a lot more ... he, he, he...)

One last note, I hope you guys will still embrues me as a member, I'd love to continue to jay with you guys and share my art work with the community.
I'm working hard to get a web sight in line, a fictitious 'Historical" book chronicling a car's life span and a follow up to it about the illustrated history of the
American Station Wagon. (Then, maybe, I can find another wagon and get back in with the groovy set.)

I'll keep you all up to date and, Snooterbucket, I styill want to take on comission work, now more than ever! ( I'll call shortly.)

Thanks for letting me bend your ears, hope I posted in the appropriate place...
Be well all, I'll be checking in more often.

Who in their right mind would own a red Dodge truck.
With our without a station wagon, Mark, you are one of us, like it or not!

I guess it's gotta hurt a little... I've only had to sell a couple cars in the past, only 1 I wanted to keep. Prior to that, My '62 Corvair, my '64 Corvair, My '66 Impala wagon and my (wife's) '68 Dart Swinger were all taken at the hands of stupid people, not ourselves.
(not a damn one of those stupid people covered by insurance. Well, that's not true, the lady that ran over my parked Corvair had insurance that covered it's replacement.)

    Thanks CatModelT, your the best!

That Colt is really neat. I can't imagine that there would be many around at all, nationwide. Sorry to read about having to sell the Buick. I'm new here but get my station wagon porn fix and am addicted. So, nice meeting you! I've been checking out Amazon for books on station wagons and their history but not much has jumped out at me. It would be neat to have a book of 'real' cars, old photos that people have kicking around and the stories about the station wagon and their corresponding memories.
The part that I like the best as my short time as a Country Squire owner are the stories that people tell me about growing up with a station wagon, or how their summer vacations were spent with their families with the station wagon as the 'meeting place', and so on.
The stories are always so happy. (I'm not much of a writer, but do you know what I mean?) I guess it just rekindles fond memories for many people, so it's a pleasure to see their faces light up.

I like that little Cabrio. Those little 2.0 and 1.6 Mitsu's are almost indistructable, the car falls apart...the engine goes in another one.

Having once owned an '82 Plymouth Champ, I know that to be TRUE. The last time it was registered and insured by my nephew, whom I sold it to, when it had 130,000 on it, the car would have turned over w more times and showed 25k, That's a grand total of 355,000 miles and she was bumped and bruised...

Zeal, thanks for the howdy-do. I'm one of those fellers with all those memories... go back and read my introduction some time. My book will be illustrated and, hopefully, will paint an imaginary tapestry of Americana. Time, and God willing.

The book sounds great! I will go back and read your introduction. I have to say that I'm also intrigued by your career.

As for the Colt's, I remember that the engines were indestructible as long as you kept feeding it oil :) If that Colt was closer, I'd pick her up

The love of wagons is the common denominator that brought us all together on this forum, but beyond that, it is all about the people and their stories and the value each person brings to the forum. The fact that you sell your wagon is news (sad news) but it does not in any way mean that you are no longer able to participate. We would miss your input.

Too often people sell their wagon and just disappear and they don't realize that they really are missed here.

Thanks guys, that means a lot. Silverfox, I just did a drive by of the lot that was selling the Colt. I didn't see it there. the owner was not the type of guy to let that car be waisted so, unless someone bought it, they are taking it home at night or storing it inside. The old guy whose estate the car came from was a very long time customer of the dealer and the cars history is solid. I'll call them tomorrow and find out where it went.
This dealership has been spoken well of around here, it's in a community of about 1400 people and they've sold cars there for a long time.
The GS is still on the lot. They are asking $5700 but were willing to go $5000.00 for me
as I had the VW to pit against it. I'd love to see it go to a good home 'cause it seriously is like new.
