Yes. I was trying to warn you about that as nicely as I could. It's always risky to knock a car that someone is crazy about. And...unless you are a good body man, I think you could wrap up 2 to $3000 in just the rust issue without the shipping. Frankly, I feel good for you that you are getting off this car.
Thanks for support! Hope eBay doesn't ding me for retracting. I've never done that before. The search continues...
Nah....they won't. Just tell them that you had the car inspected and don't feel it was as advertised. Again, I'm very happy that you caught the seriousness of that rust problem and are off the car.
Yeah and it may go higher at the end. Seller had a lot of nerve wanting $6500 for that car. Lot's of dreamers out there, I guess. We'' see what happens in 3 hours or so.
What's too bad is the buyer has not seen the series of close-ups that the owner took for me. R-U-S-T-Y !! And dabs of rattlecan white over the worst areas. They never showed up in the original set of photos...
Well....seriously, long. In looking at the ad pix you really don't need anything else. When the metal is hanging off the car all the way to the chrome strip you've got mucho problems.
When I talked to him on the phone about the pieces of paint hanging, he said it was just surface rust...and the paint came off. Uh-huh.
When it hangs as shown it means the metal has separated. Without that chrome strip I'm betting those doors would be flapping in the wind. It is, after all, an Illinois car.
Sorry you didn't get that wagon. But I'm sure it would have cost a lot of money and many headaches over time. There's another one just waiting for you.
