for years now i have been having carrier bearing issues. i just redid the trans mount using a kit from late great chevy . the other day i heard a knock from underneath and sure enough the p o s bearing snapped off at the bolts . had it out and back in with a new bearing in about an hour .

Do you have any driveline vibration? I hardly ever see a carrier bearing going bad without a out of balance driveshaft or a severe angle problem. Maybe you should check your pinion angle and see what it is at. Under power maybe it is twisting way upand pulling the driveshaft into a major positive angle

I agree on the possible angle issue. You say that you changed the tranny mount and then it snapped the bolts. I would check the angle on that rig. I don't know what you are running in the car but it does sound like an angle issue to me.

Carpet, floor console and shifter in the Bonneville

    Making progress...

    Here's the carpet...turned out great!

    Test-fitting the console...

Another view of the console. I used a portion of the old floor carpet (from under the seats, where it wasn't faded) to make the new console side panels.

I also found some good-looking burl-wood vinyl film for the trim plates and the dash panel. The console trim plates are done; now for the dash panel...

Another view of the console trim plates with the new wood grain.

Now I've got to figure out what to do with the passenger seat tracks - hard interference between the inboard edge of the seat and the console. Should be a relatively easy fix....I hope.;)
