Norm PM'd me about some really cool links in this tread.... http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14607 Thanks Norm However I like my factory stock GMC AM radio in my truck, and just can't bear to change it. Last owner I guess felt the same and installed a under dash CD, speakers and all the other junk under the seat. I still have the origonal Mercury AM radio for my 67 Cougar, and when hell freezes over and i put it back together that will remain in the dash....but I plan on a glove box CD etc. However..... A few weeks back our friend Suzie who gave us the Buick gave us another present from her dad's garage....... I was the first one to open the box, has all the origonal instructions and waranty papers...... This will be saved to go in my Cougar. Brand new, never istalled, fresh out of the box 8-track with matching speakers!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima Warranty papers... Talk about K.I.S.S.... how could you screw this up? 2 week ends ago my honeys parents were visiting and my Mother Inlaw noticed the 8-Track in the computor room. We went the the next day to the Sunday swap meet at the race track. Me and Pop-Inlaw were lapping the girls and my Mom-Inlaw found and bout this big box of 8-tracks for ..ironicly $8. There is alot of real good tunes and I've only gone through 2 of the 4 layers in the box. Here is some of my favorates so far....
Uh oh. That 8 track player is NEGATIVE ground. Aren't Mercuries positive? I know I always get a positive feeling when I turn the key and my Mercury starts...... I'm just sayin...... http://youtu.be/O8IJLfD9VIY
I think I bought one of those brand new, back in the day! Awesome Tedy! Lots of 8 track tapes out here in the Prairie Thrift stores. I've got a box of about 60 or so of 8-track tapes and nothing to play them on. One's a Jimmy Hendrix tape, and some of the old Red Fox joke tapes, etc. Andy Williams, some country hits.
I keep lookin' for a cassette 8-Track insert to convert to a cassette (god, the players were junkie), so I can use them in the car, so far, no luck. Yeah, Hendrix is still the Gueetar king. Santana made it sing, Hendrix made it talk, sing and dance.
Tedy, here's a neat idea for a bathroom backsplash in the garage! Keep all those old bolts and nuts and small forgettable hardware bits, and embed them!!! http://www.motherearthnews.com/natu...from-pebbles-shells-or-leftover-hardware.aspx
cool, found this one in the '64 wagon, took it out for a cleanup. with the user manual in the glovebox …..check out the date ..and found these in the trunk of our previous '64 belair 4dr.. still no tapes to jam in there..anybody selling maybe.. cheerrs,
...whoowww, I'm not going there Hell, I think I'm done with tiles and bathrooms forever! The old "new" bathroom was a couple years old, darker tiles floor and 1/2 the walls and a paint that was so dark yet brite (if that makes any sence?) I tore it all out not long ago, and here we go again.... ....not magor but a bit of work to keep things level to the eye considering the old house floor is out of level by a 1/2 inch on the 4 foot secton and out over 3/4 of a inch in 8' on the rite wall. Even now the lite colours make the small erea look 2x larger. I'm going to grout the walls Friday nite and then lay the floor tiles Saturday, have all the trim and stuff done by next weeks end. The wall to the rite, I layed 2 layers of drywall so the tiles under the window wall layed perfect even...with a bit of "shimming' to keep it looking even to the eye. Those are cool, I have some where a Graig AM/FM 8-Track. As for tapes, look for the swap meets, junk shops etc.
While I want an 8-track player I would have to go underdash and be careful with it so I don't tear anything up. I do want to hear KISS and Alice Cooper and such off a cartridge someday in my car. An MP3 player like mine can do ok with 320kbps insane quality mode, and I can still do 200 songs or so with that high of a bitrate (I have some live Clapton that sounds AWESOME in my wife's Durango with the windows up) but records and 8-tracks are of a higher caliber than .mp3 files or cassettes or CD's in my opinion. CD might have better quality on paper, but vinyl and acetate are just sweet.
seriously?....you want one of those adapters to cassette?? i'll see what i can do pal ive got over 400....not one C&W in the pile
