58 commuter! Your in luck! We got lots of good people here! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima Glad you are here. Show us some pics! David
My project Its been 4 years and were almost finished, I bought the 58 Commuter East 4 years ago and did a frame off and used all NOS parts down to the radio which was still in the original box. I am missing the power window switch for the tailgate and I need sill plates or scuff plates. Please if anyone has any leads the car will not roll out with out these pieces and the interior is to be installed in Jan. Any and al help would be great.
Well.....now you have REALLY piqued or interest! We need PIX! Oh......and....we don't CARE if it's finished or not!
Yo '58. Moore's Auto Salvage in Rapid City sayz they've got a '58 Monteray Four Door in their stash of Mercs. It might give up your needed sill platez? Not realy up on your interior but there might be something on that dash the will work for your gate switch too. Happy Hunting, Jer
Welcome, Mista Commuter! A trusted source for me is Big M Auto, in Williams, CA http://bigmauto.com/ He's got several Merc's and parts available. Good luck with the search, and please post some photos when you get the chance. Pete
Welcome,Commuter. Love the colors you chose for it. (he's got pics in the Garage, guys....) Good luck with finishing the project. I love hardtop wagons. BTW, where did you find NOS door and glass weatherstrips? I know there's guys here looking for sources.
That sure is beautiful. This is one of my favorite style wagons. I would prefer the stock wheels on it but everyone has their own ideas and desires of what a car should be. Mine is that a car that nice should remain looking stock with original parts. BUT....this car still is a beauty no matter what I would do.
