I always liked that body style. I would like to see more of the car, though. Looks like the front bumper has a problem.....need to see more.....in & out.

i just called the owner for info. no answer. anyone anywhere near San Diego who can give this thing a serious once over? I am considering flying out there and driving it back. its about a 22 hour drive, through nothing but desert. I'd like an unbiased opinion on my odds if I do it.

I think it's pretty neat how the rear view is on top of the door rather than lower. Looks like a pretty nice car.

just talked to him. no brakes, he primered the whole thing with a spray can. Why do people do that? has to be towed. pics are coming. front bumper is bent, and drivers fender is crunched a bit too. No AC. big downer. its hot down here.

a new Vintage Air system unit would probably work better than a factory unit and might be cheaper than restoring an existing factory air conditioning.

That's just an aftermarket mirror, typically called a 'peep mirror' and is just held in place with a set-screw. Really simple way to ad a mirror if you don't have them. I've got one on my '58. From what I've come across, the outside mirrors were 'optional' back then. It also explains why the mounting location seems to vary with similar models and years. I guess a lot of them were dealer installed and there was no standard.

Sounds like the car overall is a bit rougher than the ad would lead you to believe. Not sure I'd plan on driving it back. But, it would be an adventure to talk about....

Just to add to Teej's last comment - from what I've read, IMHO, that car should sell for less. If I were pursuing it, I'd be offering a lot less, given the difference in what he says in the advert and when you speak to him.

I hope the car is actually better than he's saying. That will make the trip well worthwhile.

No brakes....that MAY not be the only reason it needs to be towed. Why do people primer a whole car with a spray can? Often, to cover up stuff they don't want you to see. Works especially well in online pix. How available are those bumpers? Body work required on fender. No AC, manual rear window, $3500. How's the interior? Engine a runner? You have to wonder if the car is worth $3500 as a project starter? I like these wagons but I like to start with a solid car with few problems and loaded up.

Still waiting on pics, he claims he didnt get my email. I dont intend to give himn 3500, but unfortunately 62 is a popular year for Pontiac people. I doubt Ill get too much movement. it has simple clean lines, and is the last year of the horizontal headlight on the full size cars (until the late 60's). Its major appeal to me is the 3 on the tree. I dont drive automatics. This way I have all the pedals and everything to put a 5 spd in it. I love the bench seat, manual trans look. The OD will push my mileage up to make it a reasonable driver.

The aftermarket AC stuff is always so add on looking. Anyone know of a decent kit that doesnt use the entire glove box, uses the factory vents and has a heather core?
