Dear Station Wagon forum "Smokey Bears," It has been a nasty drought in California and wildfires have already been a real problem in Southern California. There was some "Red Flag" fire weather today and this time our area wasn't spared: This fire started less than a mile from our house. Fortunately, the latest report is that it is 100% contained and no structures were involved. Looks like it might be a long, dry and potentially really nasty summer in these here parts . . . . . Cheers, Edouard
Yup. I've got a feeling it's going to be a bad year for wildfires in the western U.S. Wouldn't be surprised if we got a few up here in Oregon.
Good luck to everyone over that way. For some reason large wild fires scare me more than tornadoes and hurricanes. So far I've never been near a wildfire and only touched the edges of the wind storm type hazards. We have had bad fire seasons here. Just last week we had a fire warning out. But like sink holes, never close-------yet! But I have one of these!
That's a Wodill Wildfire, I believe. Mostly sold as kit cars, approx. 24 were built by the dealer/maker. http://www.sportscardigest.com/worldwide-auctioneers-auburn-2012-auction-report/5/ (Check out the Buick wagon, too!) http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/12461381_1953-woodill-wildfire-series-ii-roadster We have wildfires here in Florida, too. Arsonists or lightning sets dry brush on fire towards the end of the dry (winter) season, and before the rainy season starts, they can be fierce. I can remember detouring around them in my plastic bodied Pontiac and REALLY sweating!
