So glad to hear your dad is ok. I suppose he is shopping for another car?

Unplugged the drain holes in the back passenger door. While working in the garden I needed a tissue so the wagon was close. I opened the door to reach in and could hear water sloshing about inside the door. So hubby caught a nail and cleared the holes. It was amazing how much water was in there. Really glad I sneezed. :yup:

In Wagon news, I put the 1990 Mercury in a car show today. I got a few compliments, maybe I'll take it to another show in the near future too.

Hubby thinks he has figured not what was wrong with Lil' Sis. He replaced he Harmonic Balancer today and is very pleased with the results. The engine never really sounded well, seemed to have a rattle sound and even after putting on a new belt it still had that annoying squeak. All seems to be better now. I'll take her for a little run tomorrow and see how she works. Maybe this was the cause of the stall???

I've been missing this thread. 101Volts glad your dad was okay. Loosing a car that way is upsetting. But it's only a car. It can be replaced. It's hard to find a good dad!

Fannie I'm glad you sneezed at just the right time. Water inside doors is nothing to sneeze at! It's a good idea to at least once a year to go around poking pointy things into those lower door drains. In some places it's also good to check along the frame for plugged holes. Water and mud builds up and rusts frames from the inside.
I like poking things with a stick.

I could see the damper causing a stall, as the shutter vanes for the 1X and 18(?)X crank sensors are attached to the damping ring, rather than the damper hub. Here's to hoping Li'l Sis has many, many more years on the road.

If nothing else at least the harmonic balancer is now replaced and an old one won't waste the engine. I suppose you know what the balancer does?

As for me, I drove the Mercury maybe 100 or so miles today and stopped at a yard sale. Someone there by the name of Joe liked it. I've been mentioning lately, whenever someone comments, that 90-91 models have an air bag and they're usually surprised about that.

I may also see another Wagon some day in the next few years. Father likes the Roadmasters.

Fannie Part of your 40 year long marriage is because together you have balanced your harmony together and life is running smoothly. You don't need help from e-Harmony.
It also helps keep the sun setting in sinc with the world creating rainbows for lovers at Niagra Falls.

I don't suppose it's a part that's replaced frequently but yes, without it the engine would shake to bits. I'm not sure if all engines have one or not?

When I was young and not car smart I worked in a small office at a factory. My job put me in contact with most of the union emplyees. Car talk was one of the main topics. Not women, I was recently married!
The older men were always telling me detailed car things and telling me to look them up.
I remember two things that stumped me for awhile.............. Crank Dog and harmonic balancer.
Other things were 'the meaning of life' and 'women'.

I've slowly figured out the meaning of life but I still haven't figured out women.

I'm a young whipper-snapper but even I know what a crank dog is--even on a WW II Schwimmwagen!
