For me a wagon is like that family man who looks like he could be a pushover but in reality he will grind you away into dust, stronger then he seems and determined. That old lady who keeps a brick in her purse and when you tried to steel her purse you found out that she was carrying the brick in her other hand the whole time. The mother with the strength of 10 men who lifts up the wreckage to save her trapped child. They are that car that when the cops look at you they think 'There goes some one I don't have to worry about.' They are the car that says 'Size doesn't matter to me  .' They are the car that keeps your friends, spouse, and kids/pets (if there is a difference), your life safe. They are what no other car, truck, van, or SUV could ever be no matter how hard they tried. They are Station Wagons!

Whenever I see a Wagon. I think of the American family. I think of the good old-fashioned values from the days when these bad boys dominated the roads. Better times.

To me, a wagon represents many things. My wagon is family, tradition and history. I know I've told this story before, but this seems like a good place to repeat it.
My Grandfather purchased my wagon new. It has been a part of our family since day one. In 87 My Father purchased it from my Grandfather. It was our family car until the early 90's. As a High Schooler, it became my transportation and a part of my High School identity. When I graduated, much to my surprise, my Father gave me the Plymouth as a graduation gift.
Now my son is experiencing this car. He is riding in the same car I rode in as a child, as did my father before me.
As a historian, I find myself in awe at times when I drive the Plymouth. I am holding the same steering wheel, and listening to the same AM radio that generations before me have. They were driving this car while the things that shaped our world were going on. Then, it was part of their daily life, now it is our history. I get to touch that everytime I climb inside.
I feel the world is a better place, harkening back to a simpler time and truly embodying the American dream, the American spirit and the promise of all that makes our lives rich.
To me it isn't a family hauler. It is indeed family.

Good thread. Great story and photos Orth. Along the same lines, a wagon to me represents simpler times, family being together, all that. :thumbs2:

This reminds me. Once upon a time I straight piped my Caprice and was driving through Portage. 3 squad cars whipped around after hearing that exhaust, but then couldn't figure out where it was coming from!

That sounds a lot like 2 Plymouths in my family. ;) Its amazing how a car can really become part of the family. I guess its a lot like a family home, memories are made and it becomes a member of the family

ive always been a Rebel Without a Clue:D

I started on my Wagon addiction at 15...then strayed...then came back about 35 years ago:D
those on here that know me...know that my present condition ...is a lil beyond help :biglaugh:

what started out ..."just being different"...has kinda morph'd into a
    full blown 'ISSUE":slap:

I have no really good explanation for my 'Wagonitis'...just know Ive had it a long while...and there aint NO cure that I have found....:thumbs2:

the fact that it became the 'cool kid' thing a few years back...is a double edged sword for me....Im sad that it became cool....tho im glad to not be alone in it anymore:D

Well Rev, I sure never did it to be cool. Some people think my wagons are 'cool' but not in a way that they'd like to own one, more in a way that they're perfect for a relic like me.
