Had a plan to make my wagon with side panels, handles, roof rack, interior rear floor, etc wood. Was recently at a car show and thought i heard someone say that it wasn't a woody because i threw a surf board on top and of course i don't have any wood on the side. What would you think if everything was zebrano wood or skunk all around.?

To me a woody is any wagon with wood grain vinyl or real wood on the outside of the wagon. However, there are those that consider only real wood wagons are woodys.

Surfboards don't a woody make nor does the interior. So, I tend to agree if it has no wood on the outside side panels. Just my 2 cents.

I would however like to see your interior when it's done as I've thought about a wood floor in the back as well. It would be nice to see how you would do it.

I agree 100%. I didn't really catch what they said and i don't really care but i just wanted to make my wagon (for the show) what everyone calls it, a surf wagon to the hilt. Then i looked at the other versions of the meteor and the upgrade is the wood vinyl sides with metal(?) trim around it and wondered what it would look like with a very nice wood job on it.

For the interior: I would use the same wood but thin panels attached to ? to the floor. I have about 7-8 panels that lay flat that i could put down. Thinking of solid wood arm rests, may be door handles, door skins, headliner. Of course i wouldn't want to over do it:oops:.
I was thinking of leather for the door panels instead, the dash, all seats and pillars???

A real Woody has a body made out of wood with the exception of the frame cowl and driveline,Last of the woodies built by Chrysler and Buick was mostly steel with a limited amount of wood and wood trim bolted to the body.

Scary isn't it. We are thinking alike. If and when I get around to doing my interior I was going to cover all the pillar plastics with at least fabric. Where I live I think it would hold up better than vinyl or leather to the harsh summers. My origonal door panels are in great shape as is the front seat backs and rear seat. The front seat bottoms are shot. My carpet is just like new. I'm almost finished with the dash. I still have to drill holes for the left and right speakers so the sound comes through. I'm going to do the steering wheel next as it badly cracked. I was thinking of doing it in simulated wood grain to match the dash and door panel inserts which would then lead to wood floor in the back. It's currently blue.

Considering the headliner I think it would be good with strips of wood rather than all wood. Spaced like a roof rack. It would simulate the strips of wood on the headliner of real woodies.

And, any wagon is a surf wagon with a surf board on top or inside!:D
