    I saw the story of Fitzpatrick on a program called "Mysteries at the Museum" so I was aware of that caper.
    But the plane in the photo looks like it's missing a wing. I don't think the plane Fitzpatrick landed ended up missing a wing.

    I think the posted picture was taken after they started disassembling the plane to fit it into the rental truck in the background. Looks like it is a Cessna 140, it could be a 120 also but I think I see a D shaped window behind the main cabin door window. That would make it a 140.

    Cessnas from back then were easily disassembled, so it has to be what's getting done.
