I posted a thread about a year ago on how scarce wagons are on the internet, just did a quick search tagged 1969 to 1990, 8 cylinder, specially looking for American wagons; on Hemming's; eBay motors; Autotrader; craigslist - east coast only Maine to Florida - only 2 I would look at are below) ClassicCars; and a few other sites. Once you throw out the all the imports; Jeep Wagoneer's; Bronco's etc. there is not much out there. As I had been looking for another Colony Park (before I got my 85 last year) I know there used to be more out there,
There have been posts over the past year from new members that were seeking a decent wagon at an affordable price and coming up wanting - well I get it!
don't get me wrong there are some to choose from but prices are definitely getting up there for "decent" wagons - seems to me what used to be $2000-$2500 2 years ago is now the $4000 to $6000 range.
I am not talking about cars with rust holes; torn out seats; woodgrain that is shot, or "semi-project" cars, but cars you buy and drive home.
    Just amazed?
2 cars I would look at:

and this only because a Cadillac wagon under $16,000 -

Yes, now that you mention it, I've noticed this as well. I don't do as many internet searches for wagons as I used to because 1) There's not as many out there for sale as there used to be (say 3-4 years ago), and 2) The ones I'm finding are, for the most part, overpriced, in my opinion. Finding very few decent condition wagons (not 'perfect', just good daily drivers) without sky-high prices on them.

    If I had to guess...
Three or four years ago, there were enough older wagons out there on the market to keep prices in line by competition, and then buyers, like myself, started grabbing them up, one by one. Those buyers are keeping the wagons they bought, so for the time being, they are 'removed' from the market. Station wagon market gets smaller, little by little. Less supply, prices go up.

The ones priced right here in CT are gone almost immediately, I contact the seller ASAP and they are already sold. There are still a couple of over priced ones for sale but they are severely overpriced and even when they are auctioned the sellers baulk at great offers. I might have to wait for another recession to get one at a fair price. Will keep searching but its been over a year and I kinda lost the drive (LOL). Maybe things will pick up in the Spring since almost everyday for the last 2 weeks it has been in the minuses with the wind chill.

you were 1 of the members that came to mind when I posted this, I ended up last year paying $5250 to get a wagon I had seen 2 years before go out the door in the $4500 range. I was prepared to go to $6000 to get this 1 - but would have irked me to no end.
Now wouldn't sell it below $8000; have been offered 5 grand on the spot
all gaskets/seals replaced; all door rust corrected; new starter; alternator; solenoid; tires
etc - trying to keep the mileage down below 65,000 (just turned 59,000)

The one in Waterbury is still for sale and he came down a $1000 but it doesnt have AC or wood faux on the sides but I might go back and make him the same offer as I did last Summer and see if he bites, I doubt it but worth a try. Right now my Dad who lives with us has a garage bay for the Winter since I added a 2 bay garage this Summer/Fall so kicking him out mid Winter would be rude but I would of if I got my hands on that West Haven wagon at the Chevy dealership but the day it was posted I emailed the guy and it was sold. Prices have definitely gone up and I think it has actually been over a year and a half since I started looking. One day last Fall a wagon for sale drove by me and I couldnt follow it because I had an appointment. I thought I would of found it for sale advertised somewhere and I couldnt find it. I even went looking for it but truthfully it could of been headed anywhere. Timing is a big factor also. I dont go to any car shows so maybe this Spring I should check out some of the bigger ones in my area. I am going to email the Mary women again to see if she sold her car for $7500 yet which is way overpriced but I dont want to offend her since she was so gracious to my family and I.

    I saw this, again it's not a $4500 car, $3000 max
Replacement seats cover have to be made no one that I have found has ready made replacements.
Cost for new leather $900 to $1600, at least that's the range I got to replace the front cover for my 85 CP

so replace the seat and maybe $4500, photo could be a wrong angel, but passenger side behind rear tire looks like a wood gran patch job

Buffalo is 14 hours away, I dont have that kind of time with an active 7 year old. I emailed Mary but no response yet and at $7500 she is thousands off what the car is worth but hopefully she listed it and was brought back to reality. One will either fall into my lap or I hopefully will get lucky. I just am not searching like I once was because it has become not fun and frustrating. The weather isnt helping much either, Spring should bring out some more sellers.

I live about an hour away from Buffalo. Could possibly go check it out if someone is interested in the vehicle. Let me know if I can lend you my service. Longroofs Rule!

Thanks but that car you listed is in rougher shape then I am looking for. I have seen much nicer interiors in cars of the same age and im not sure what is going on with those side pipes. My issue has been bad timing and over priced wagons in my area.

Hey fasteddie you tried to go look at a wagon for me next year, it was beautiful but seemed to good to be true and the seller wouldnt let you see it. Thats the stuff that has been happening to me with the wagons for sale of late or I email them the instant I see the ad and it friggin sold already like the one in west haven. Im trying and I appreciate the generosity from the fellow members here.

Everything there is over priced, but that the charm of Connecticut
