Good topic! Can I play too? Even though this looks more like a bush hog than a lawn mower https://nashville.craigslist.org/atq/d/horse-drawn-mower/6674636314.html
In her house? An indoor lawn isn't a bad idea. It saves on buying rugs. There are certain grass seeds developed for areas which don't get much sunlight. I guess, she knew her stuff
That is really cool! Question is, is it an actual production mower, made way back when? Or someone's retro design, made nowadays?
Well, I can't see, from here, what the manufacturer's rivetted-on plate reads. But, there's something printed on the tank which looks not that easy to decipher
It says "Li'l Scamper," and I think the indian chief head refers to the engine, which might be a Tecumseh brand. You're right that the rear plate is too blurry, though.
We could easily determine if the engine's a Tecumseh. The mower iself couldn't be as old as it looks, since Tecumseh first marketed 4-cycle engines in the early 60s. The Indian as a would-be hood ornament looks like he's holding a rifle. I envision an Elvis hood ornament, Cadillac tail- and headlights. with the entire mower painted the same color as his pink Caddy. I'd bet that if someone manufactures a mower like that, that person would get a decent turnover. That's an odd carburetor. It looks like a vacuum diaphragm, on there
