    Good Morning,

I am trying to figure out what the value of a 1971 Ambassador SST wagon is 360/285hp 4bbl engine a/c, tilt wheel ect. The body has never been hit all chrome is good interior is in nice shape (not ripped up). I am going to Connecticut next week (that is where the car is) and will post pics in the classifieds (have to get my post # higher to do so and also need to figure out a price). I want to be fair to whomever may be interested in keeping her together. I purchased the car from the original owner and have never driven it (with the exception of getting it home) and moving it in the yard. She has not been started since 1998 or 99 but once a year the engine is turned over by hand (on my vacation!!!) just to check her out. I never intended on selling her but i have other cars that are taking my time and money at this time. Whatever i sell her for is going back into my 68Rambler Rogue (bodywork/paint).

Wanting to find that "forever home" for her, I just want to be fair to myself and whomever purchases her. (paint is fadded, needs carb rebuilt from sitting, exhaust-of course and i know there is a small hole on the passengers side floor (small). I have not seen her in a year and have no photo's. I will be posting her in the classifieds probably the 24th (will have photo's then). If anyone knows someone looking for this type of wagon she is a wonderful winter project to have ready for the cruise nights in the spring.

    Peace Out, Chuck

The latest issue of the Old Cars Price Guide lists the value of a '71 Ambassador SST wagon in #4 condition (runs and drives but needs complete restoration) at about $1900. In #5 condition (doesn't run but in too good a condition to part out), the value is about $1100.

In my opinion, there is a big difference in desirability between a car that runs and moves around under its own power and one that doesn't. Since you know that the engine is apparently not seized, why not spend a little time on it and see if you can get it started?
