I woke up very early this morning with a pain in both my right lower back and right lower abdomen. After about four hours, since the pain wasn't going away, I had Emily drive me to the local ER. After blood draws and a CT scan, I was told I have a 5mm kidney stone between the kidney and bladder right now.
Me too. I'm at the pharmacy right now; they've been having computer problems all day, so I'm just getting my meds now.
Good luck man. Dang. My brother had to pass his first one not too long ago. He didn’t give it a great review. What causes those things???
Mine didn't pass. I was at an event in another state when it hit me. Had to suffer a 10 hour drive with a friend to his house, then an hour's drive in my truck to get home. Went straight to the Doc's office and she gave me drugs for the pain. Didn't help. Wife drove me to the emergency room the next morning. They called in a urologist and he scheduled me for laser surgery to disintegrate the stone so I could pass it. He also inserted a stent to keep the passage open. Then I had to return at a later date to have it removed. The whole ordeal lasted almost 2 months and I was on opiates the whole time. It was the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. I was on the keto diet at the time and it was determined to be the cause. The protein molecule is the largest that can be passed thru the kidneys. I was only eating meat and veggies, drinking protein shakes, and having protein powder milkshakes. Protein overload that built up in the kidneys!!! The diet was working well but the side effects were hell.
After a couple days of groin pain i went to the Er they couldn't figure it out so after ultra sound and they came back with the word i had a 5mm stone 1/2 way down a 5mm tube. You should have been on the ground crying ! PROB NOT WITH ALL THE PAIN KILLERS IV'E BEEN ON WITH 2 KNEE REPLACEMENTS ETC. They blasted it and all is good!
Alright! It's good to see decent resolution in yours. So, to update, a week ago Friday morning, I was apparently a bit warm to Emily's touch and looked a bit red. She convinced me to go back to the ER; I found out the stone wasn't 5mm but 6, and nothing was getting past it. So I was admitted, in order to put in a drain stent, and give me time to get down the road to deal with the stone. So far, in one week, the pain gradually subsided, I got back some bladder function, and Monday I go to see my GP doctor, get the ball rolling on dealing with the stone.
