To be honest, I'm more of a traditionalist myself, but looking at that vinyl and your wagon I think they go together great. And hey...it's your baby and she needs to look just like you want it to. Go for it!:thumbs2:

If I had to do mine again (I stripped and reapplied new woodgrain in 2008 and redid the trim), I'd try to paint the woodgrain or any pattern. With your colour, that would look sharp. Just make sure that your paint isn't chipped and use a good heat gun to form around the wheelwells and curves.

Thanks for the input! Storman' Norman you are a patient man! I would not tackle that myself. My buddies shop is going to do it if I decide on it. I'm great at wrenchin but when it comes to paint and body? I'm outa here!

Took 2 days to remove the old stuff, and 4 hours to apply the new. You're lucky you don't have to remove any. Major PITA. Not hard, just lots to watch for, when scraping it off.

I had a 79 Grand Wagoneer a few years back and did just one section on the rear quarter. Talk about a pain!! It was 4 hours just to get that off. Then because I gouged the paint I had to sand it smooth. It did go on pretty easy, but I realized it's better left to the pro's in my case.

Can't tell much from from the color swatch but the car is nice. I have always loved the wood though. Since my car came with the wood, it has chrome to trim it out. I personally want to repaint mine but don't want to lose the wood. If you go with the wood I'd like to see how it turns out.

    My honest opinion.
I would have to see the material in person to get a real feel for it.
Your moldings are still on the car and removing them would be a burden?
I would rather you remove them but I understand that is a big task and since you don't have that as an option I think at least trying one side for now with that material would be an option to consider.
These decisions take time so go slow and have no regret :)

P.S. I have a friend that would vinyl one side and keep it that way. He often has a different sets of wheels on each side of his car so he can appreciate it both ways, He's a nut but he's my Bud.:D

I'd like to see a bigger and better pic of that material. It looks like it might be cool on that wagon but I can't tell for sure.

I agree, can you post a better picture of the material. It's sounds very interesting.

If you like it, do it. It's fun trying new things and seeing if you like it. Like my grandfather used to say, "If everyone liked the same thing, everyone would want to marry your grandmother.":yup:

...that grampa joke of yours. Will be talking to some "wrappers" around here about doing the passenger side as a woody, guess contact paper would last about six weeks

    Lines go horizontal?
I don't think there are lines, those are reflections because it's more or less a black mirror finish.
If that's the case it would be a lot easier to just paint it black..with a ghost woodgrain pattern in silver. ;)
Do it in the black vinyl in a graduated vertical bumble bee stripe pattern to go with your screen name.:)
It would be way cooler than that Camaro in the Transformers movies.
