If you don't own a 91-96 GM b-body wagon, you have no reason to know how bad the headlights suck. Well, they do. You can't see more then about 20 ft ahead of you and you could drive all night with the high beams on and no one would ever notice.

So when I saw a thread on ISSF about how to build some custom headlights with Hella driving lights, I jumped on it!

That ended up not working out so good. They looked awesome, but I NEVER could get 'em aimed right.

I fought with them. I took them apart and rebuilt them dozens of times... Still ended up working horribly- the did a great job of lighting up the didtches on both sides of the road, but nothing in front. So I gave up and just drove it that way for months...

Then along comes Darius, with a bunch of spare healight assemblies. BINGO! I'd wrecked the frames in the ones I had and needed a new assembly to work with. My mind started ticking...

I took out the stock reflector assembly and mounted the Hella's to the support frame. Suddenly I can adjust the dam things! I slotted one side of the mounting holes so I could adjust them left to right. And while I was at it, I dropped in some 100w superwhite bulbs.

Then I acquired some clear headlight covers:

And fabbed some brackets. but they weren't big enough and needed to have some flexibility so I could bend them. I was perplexed for days... then I saw and old licence plate in the basement and thought, hmm... rigid but bendable, wide enough... (y)

    YES! IT WORKS!

Best part is I can see at night. Kinda gives you a BMW ish feel. When I get around to de-wooding, smoothing, shaving and lowering my wagon, they'll look just right. Right now I think it kinda clashes with the utter stockness of the rest of my wag. Soon to change.
