John Tell's 78 Malibu Wagon is on the cover this month - you know what this means? We're all going to have to start driving red '68 Camaros to be different!
It's weird isn't it? Wagons have gotten more and more poplular in recent years, I believe we used to be the "weird" ones. When I bought my wagon back in 96' I got so much sh*t from my friends in my car club, now they all want full size wagons. Funny how things change...
Bought mine in late 80's. Most thought I was weird....or the wagon. Won first in the first show it was in. Moved to Florida and many in the car club were begging me to sell it to them. Like a fool I later did. Took three years to get it back. I showed them who was weird. I think! I'll swear it gets more attention than a red 57 Chevy convertable. After all, there must be a million of them around. By the way Dewey, you are weird!
Thanks. I knew you'd understand. That's part of being weird! But I prefer different! Speaking of weird where's silverfox been hiding? Seems like he's only on in the middle of the nite. Must be avoiding us younger guys.
well with 4 kids in the 80s you needed that extra seat in the back.my kids totally grew up in a wagon, we had 4 or 5 full sized wagons.if 1 child was bad then we just adjusted who got the back seat out of the reach of the wrath of dad. They still to this day laugh at my wagons but I have a saying STYLISH YET FUNCTIONAL
I agree. Most people thought that I was....strange... for loving wagons so much. Nowadays...not so much. They (wagons, not my friends) have indeed become more popular AND more desired. How long this lasts is anyone's guess. But it doesn't matter to me. I will always have a fondness for long roofs.:icon_drive:
Seems odd. Our wagon is still very popular and for awhile we were seeing other station wagons at shows and cruise ins. For some reason not so many lately. Still more fun than a red Camaro.
Everybody laughed when I bought that 56 Studebaker President 2 door wagon back in the early 90's........till I got it done and on the road......it got all the attention, first for "what is it", then what does it have...........For the offer I got on it, I had to sell it.......wish I still had it. Now, my daughter, son-in-law are building their 67 Malibu wagon.......we'll have fun with it, and it'll be fun to park it next to my 66 Malibu 2 door HT at shows..........
Well, since I don't subscribe to Hot Rod, I had to look up a pitcher of the wagon on the 'ole interwebs...... Unfortunately, not suitable for trailer-towing.......
always loved wagons as I,like so many, grew up in one, albeit in Germany, a 1970 Chevy Townsman (Canadian equivalent of Kingswood). Funny how many women talk to me car to car at stop lights or from the street when i cruise with my wagon and da wife- either for memories or simply love it. They are definitely starting to get a larger following.
