I'm sure you've all got a story about the wagon deal you almost made but somehow it slipped away... The last time it happened to me, it was actually documented here. An 80's malibu wagon for $700 was for sale IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD! But $700 might as well be $7000 when all you got is $.70... 3 years ago it was a RUNNING 58 chevy wagon my former employer found in Texas. $3000 might as well have been $30,000... 5 years ago, I owned a 79 Impala wagon with 90,000 origional miles. It was a little beat, a little rusty, but every electric window worked (I can't say that about my 96) And when I put some 17" Prime Billet looking wheels on it, it was pretty nice. I lost my job and didn't know how long I'd be unemployed, so I sold it. And found a job the next day. OOOOOUCH! So it is quite a miracle that I'm Driving this one. It's a keeper. Share your stories.
...I'm the poster child for the saying.. .."A fool and his money are soon Pinto'd" the only story i got is from umteen years ago....had a chance to buy a 63 Falcon , 2dr, Woodie wagon, 40,000 original miles....i just couldnt get him to a happy place on the price:confused: ..he wanted 5000.oo...i didnt want to pay more than 4000.oo....dumass I still kick myself in the ass for that one...never seen one before or since.. ..cant even find one in the Falcon registry
A '79 fairmont "Squire", that was a factory "freak" supposedly built for a Ford exec. It had every option made for a Ford, including Intermittent wipers, power everything, buckets and console w/ shifter, 302/C4 and a factory flip-up sunroof. The owner was a handy man working at my buddy's parents house. He wanted to unload the car because he needed something that would carry a ladder, paint and wood at the same time. In other words, a pick-up. He only wanted $700 for the car. I had just gotten married and bought a new Taurus SHO. I hated to let that one get away. Chuck
I missed getting the skeleton of a 1927 REO 2 door pickup. Everything was there, but under the snow. Gave the farmer a $50 deposit to hold him until Springtime, but he passed away a month later and the family sold the farm when I went back. They sent me the $50 back.
Dang that was bad luck. I missed out on a 58 Chevy Biscayne 2Door straight 6 and 3 in the tree for a $150.00 when I was 16 my Dad wouldn't let me get it cause it was too old but it was a running and driving car.
