They're not ruined. They've been great conversation pieces. Gives many someone to hate besides politicians. :rofl2:

I expect the Cameo to go for the most (even with the dent in the roof). It was stored indoors and extremely few Cameos were made that year, making it possibly the rarest of the group. The Pace car Vette, I predict, will be the second highest since it too was stored inside and is rare (only because its a pace car edition). Of the five 2 door hardtop Impalas, I know the 64 was stored inside, so I believe it will also bid very high. I don't know if any of the other four 62-65 Impala 2 door hardtops were stored inside, but if any were, then they'll be way up there too.

I agree with 72 Kingswood. If you are going to "collect" at least make an effort at preservation. Hell, the Plymouth buried in the ground was at least an ATTEMPT at preservation. What did that pile of rust sell for again?
Conversation pieces, yes for us freeloaders and the probably dismayed employees who "cared" for these cars. How many folks must have offered to save these earlier to be turned down by the guy. Nuts, I say.
I don't hate the guy, just think he's an ass for doing this.
    Politicians? Hmmmm
That '64 Chev wagon was sure an odd one to save, then anyway. Wish I had it, I have it going in days.
Pace car Corvette, I think MOST of them were saved. Stellar investments they are. ~$20 new, 35 yrs later worth about the same, less cost of keeping of course. Sheer genius.

I looked at the link and the ones that upset me most are the mid-60's pickups that were parked when new...outside... It's just so wasteful!

I have met a few people over the years that collect cars or trucks and then store them either outside half-assed tarped or in a shed or barn that has a dirt or gravel floor. They aren't interested in selling them because they are going to restore them as they have said for the last 25 years. Instead of selling them to someone who will save them, they let them rot to dust. This guy just strikes me as a hoarder.

The bidding is already up to $30,000 on the 78 Pace car Corvette, and $20,000 on a 63 Impala 2 door hardtop. Several others are already in the $10,000 to $15,000 including some that lived outside in a field for 50 years. I think the bidding will go crazy even on the junk that may be rusty beyond repair. I think regardless of the condition, there are just too many who will bid up the prices just because of the low mileage, and the chance to be the first and the original owner of a vintage car or truck. For some, I think it may also be that it would mean buying into a piece of history in the making that will be talked about for years.

That or they own 1 just like it with no title OR a million miles on it! Think about that 1 for a few :) (speaking of the outside tree farm decorations of course)

But!!!! It's illegal to swap titles or VIN numbers. No one would do that... Right?
I believe a lot of people are gonna buy low mileage cars that are very rusty and wonder what in the world they were thinking!!!!!

Those 77-79 Impala 4-doors are looking pretty impressive to me. Easy LS swap. Can get an EFI tank for an 89-90 model. Interiors are decent, no worse than the ones that were cared for over the last 35ish years. Tires would have to be changed anyway.

Guys, most of these are not gonna have nearly the rust you think. Yeah, they SAT for years, and were not on the winter roads that eastern Nebraska is infamous for. So, unless water has accumulated through leaky seals and such, these are NOT going to be rotten. The only real point of concern I would have would be if there were a car or truck sitting with four flats for forty years, then yeah, I could see floor rust to the point where it is either a parts car, or would require a complete floor to redo.

The body looks good, but was it sunk to the middle of the rims?

Either way I would love to go to that auction, if I only had the time and money.
